Post Herpetic Neualgia

Updated

my spouse is suffering from the above as a result of shingles. The commonly used drugs of choice(Lyrica & other) do little to ease her constant pain in the neck & shoulder area. what about acupunchure ? This has been going on for 2+ yr's and no medical Dr. has come up w/any help.

It wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
Acupuncture relieves pain and is for therapeutic purposes. According to traditional Chinese medical theory, these acupuncture points lie along meridians along which qi, the vital energy, flows. There is no known anatomical or histological basis for the existence of acupuncture points or meridians.

Hi, Your spouse (sorry you didn't seem to give your names) and I seem to be in the exact same position. I had a bad bout of Shingles (on the left side of my upper torso, across my chest under my arm and around to middle of my shoulder blades).
That was 3 years ago and I still have a patch on my shoulder blade which itches and pains so badly that I have permanent scars from scratching. I still take 75mg of Lyrica morning and evening, because that is all that helps, however, it has a nasty side-effect of give me a huge appetite mainly for sweet things and I have gained 20 Kilograms since first starting on 150mg Lyrica twice a day about 1 and a half years ago.. When I realised the reason for my weight gain, I tried to wean myself off the Lyrica, but then the pain and itch was unbearable and I had to stick to at least 75 mg of it twice a day. I had posted a blog on here a few months ago, requesting help from other sufferers (or ex-sufferers) who have found PERMANENT relief and freedom from this debilitating condition. However, only one answer came and I haven't beebn able to find a doctor who is familiar with the cure suggested.
My GP recently recommended EMLA Ointment as a temporary relief. I have not tried it yet. They use this ointment to deaden the skin where they have to insert the needle for an IV drip, so it seems possible that it could help for a little while. Hope we can help each other as it seems that most doctors cannot comprehend the severity of the condition and cannot come up with any possible permanent solution. Best regards. Cori

Re: Crystal (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Right now, go buy a bottle of made in America Lysine vitamins {aff link}. It works against all herpes, shingle, etc related illnesses. Trust me and take four a day on an empty stomach - I swear it works. What do you have to lose?
