This contains 800mgs of Metaxalone, the active ingredient in Skelaxin, it is a powerful muscle relaxant.

It is often abused, so you may want to speak with your son if he does not have a valid prescription for this.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache.

I would be worried that the child is just taking random pills but not with this pill (metaxalone) itself. A previous poster describes this drug as a powerful muscle relaxant, it is NOT. This drugs action is not fully understood and for many people it has zero affect. What is worrisome is that the child is taking a non prescribed drug, and this could lead to more dangerous drugs like opiates and benzodiazepines.

You can view the drug monograph yourself, it is classified by the U.S. FDA as a muscle relaxant.

Here is the link, again:

They are, also, very commonly abused.

I did not state she should not be worried about her child taking pills, that would be a huge concern for any parent. I just provided the necessary information on what the pill consists of.

The mechanism of action of most drugs is not understand, that constitutes how they work and do what they do, mechanism of action does not refer to what they do and what class they are considered to be under.

Do anyone have any questions?

One time I took some (prior to going to rehab)... someone told me they were pink lortab 10 mg. I found out the hard way that they weren't because I slept for 15 straight hours, and I was still groggy the remainder of the day. Yes, it was stupid of me to do that, but it was the addiction talking. Thank God I chose to receive help for my addiction problem. In fact, tmr I will be 3 years clean. It hasn't been easy, but it sure is nice having money and being able to pay bills instead of stealing to make ends meet! I encourage anybody that has any sort of addiction problem, whether it's opiates, alcohol, benzo's, ect., please go get help for yourself! My life is so much better these days! I've regained my family's trust, I've rehashed a lot of friendships that I lost while I was on pills, and most importantly, my higher power has blessed me way beyond what I I said, the process wasnt easy, but it's the best decision I've ever saved my life! God Bless!
