Perciset And Xanax And Atenolol

Took for first time three hours ago as prescribed for bad mania caused by required large cortisone injections for acute arthritis pain. As prescribed (two 0.5 xanax plus two 5x325 percosets did nothing to reduce the manic anxiety and pain. Heart still racing and terrible anxiety continued. Took one extra 0.25 atenolol (have chronic mild atrial fibrillation, keep it on hand). Also took two more xanax and one extra percoset. Felt disoriented and sorta walking into walls for two hours. Now heart is fine, pain reduced, but I can't concentrate on Birdman and scared to go to sleep. It's 4 am...mouth dry. New to these drugs, and history of addiction to 30 years alcohol/fentanyl, but sober/clean for three years after seizure/coma due to cold turkey stopping drinking. Never do this again, but I'm scared. Coffee? Lotsa water? Avoid walking to keep from falling? 70 years old, alone.

Yes, taking that many of the Percocet and Xanax could be dangerous and should be avoided in the future. You could cause a fatal overdose.

Both of those medications carry the risk of being habit forming and, even when taken as prescribed, they won't have an immediate effect. It will take about half an hour for them to start working, after you take them. For the fastest results, you should take them with a full 8 ounce glass of water, as long as you aren't on fluid restriction.

Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, mood swings, dry mouth and constipation.

Manic Anxiety? Perhaps you were having a heart attack. By taking additional medication than prescribed you do stand the chance of bumping into a wall or hurting yourself and or passing out from lowered blood pressure, especially if you are not familiar with the effects of these new meds. Pain medicine and Benzos seem to fight each other and the atenolol lowers your BP. I would stay in a controlled setting like your bed until you know what you can and can't do. If this medicine or the combo is not working for you stop this treatment after first speaking with your doctor. Plus you are taking too much Tylenol!
