I am curious what experiences patients have had when switching from brand name Wellbutrin to generic by PAR Pharmcueticals.

Hi, Vincent! Have you recently switched?

Much of it really depends on the person. There can be fluctuations when switching from the name brand to a generic, but most people don't notice any difference, since they aren't significant.

However, for some people, problems can arise, if they are sensitive to medication changes.

When I first switched from brand Wellbutrin XL 300 to Par, I thought it was working. I had intestinal issues at first, and then I started waking up in the middle of the night for about 3 hours. I also developed a constant eye twitch.

So now my experience with generics is:

Actavis - no real side effects but I felt like I was in a funk.

Mylan - this one made me jittery like I had too much caffeine but the depression was under control.

Par - insomnia and constant eye twitching but the depression was under control

The only generic that worked for me was the Watson version which was pulled because it didn't meet standards.

So I guess I will go back to the brand again and pay the extra money.

Any advice on another generic that I haven't tried? I may try the Actsvis one again since it didn't have noticible side effects.
