I suffer from pancreatitus. I take hydrocodone 15mg. I wanted to know the affects if any this medicine could have on the liver or the pancreas? I have extremely bad pain under my right rib cage after every meal. The pain lasts anywhere from on hour to days. The doctors can't find out what is going on with me. Any suggestions???

Well, something you definitely want to do is take only as directed. Some things you also want to stay on top of seriously, you need to stay very hydrated. It's would be best to over-hydrate because this medication does produce toxins in your body. It can be a very constipating drug as well. Possibly adding a stool softener would benefit you if your Dr agrees. If you let the toxicity of this medication build up in your body, that is when you get the most unwanted side effect. Stay positive and productive. If you get serious constipation quick then do NOT hesitate to use an enema to use the restroom. Constipation is your enemy with building unwanted toxins.

While only your doctor can give you a definitive answer, I can tell you that the FDA does list this medication as possibly causing abdominal pain, and discomfort as side effects. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth.

Regarding the mention of toxins in the first response, everyone should be aware that there are no medical or scientific studies that substantiate such claims. If someone has toxins building up in their body, either their liver, kidneys, or both are failing and they require immediate medical attention. There is no way to speed up the rate at which toxins are processed out of your body, other than fluids and activity, and they do not ever linger past a certain time period in a normal, healthy person. This entire new detoxing fad is completely false and invalid.

Using an enema is also something that should only be done with your doctor's approval. When I was on opiate narcotics for pain management years ago, I found that upping my fiber intake helped a lot, if I became constipated.

Is this the only medication you are currently taking, Delores?
