Pain Management Nashville Tn

Updated

As of May 1, my PCP will no longer treat chronic pain. I developed rsd/crps several years ago after surgery. I was referred to a pain clinic; PT; several modalities. Finally got pain manageable with Fentanyl Patches and Hydrocodone. Multiple weaning attempts, but pain was too much. Almost 2 years ago, I was able to wean off of the patches. So now, just using hydrocodone. It keeps pain tolerable most days. I am awake, alert and fully functional. I take 20 mg four times a day.
As a critical care and hospice nurse for 30+ years, I know risks and ramifications. I also know I CANNOT tolerate 24/7/365 pain. I just need someone who will continue the regimen that has worked for me for years. I have done it all; biofeedback, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, etc..
I am on full term disability due to this condition. Can you recommend an MD in the Nashville area who will continue my current treatment?

Good luck. I took the hellaous drug Lyrica that is why I use the nickname, no brain. The drug helped my pain but the side effects memory loss and brain seizures I didn't need on top of all of my chronic pain problems. When I had back surgery that went 100% well to this day, It has been 2 months away from 4 yrs. Due to lyrica i don't know if I worded this right or not sometimes I can't spell 4 letter words and using adjatives is a joke. They need to take lyrica off of the market. Are u the one that gave your opinion to The National Pain Report? If so I feel u on your comments. I have lost my quality of life. I am a retired Registered Nurse, I know that these so called providers r off the chain. I just answered the ? I see the initials don't match. Now, my surgery went fine as I said but I got 2 pain injections too close to my sciatic nerve on each buttock, I have had both knees replaced and need them done again it has been 20 yrs. three other 10+ pains. The injections and the lyrica caused my lifetime problems. Afew months after taking lyrica i passed out while driving and ran into a big tree,no warnings at all. My car was paid for now totaled. I have seen 9 so-called providers
all treated me like a 1st class street junkie. Now i have a cardiovas.prob if i can live a few more months i am writing a book that will knock everyones shoes off from my experiences.God bless u.

So, since I got absolutely no help here, and no suggestions, I'm going with who my PCP recommended, Pain and Spine Consultants in Brentwood. I have already received a 2 pound packet of paperwork. While it may be necessary, it's a pain in the butt to fill all of this out. Not to mention the 3 full pages of rules, threats, intimidations and so on. Drug panels, pill counts, requisite trying new treatments, or old ones if the MD so chooses. Federal data bases. I am an intelligent, college degreed, productive, working member of society. After 3 years of absolute HELL, my MD finally found a combination of meds that worked for me. For 12 years, we have successfully managed my pain, without changing my LOC. AT MY SUGGESTION AND REQUEST, we weaned me slowly off of the Fentanyl, leaving me now only on the Hydrocodone. While a precarious balance sometime, it works. And in 12 years we have only increased the dose ONCE! I have not requested a prescription early, have never requested extra. No arrests, no criminal history at all. And yet, I am being forced to go to a doctor I have never heard of and who has never heard of me, agree to inconvenience my life for spontaneous pill checks and drug panels, be required to try whatever plans they come up with. Sorry, this is bulls***! Thanks for not helping or even responding.

LAD, 20 mg of hydocodone and acetaminophen four times a day is a lot. Be prepared not to be able to find any dr that will prescribe you that much of an immediate release pain medication. They will want to give you an extended release medication. If hydrocodone works well for you, you may want to talk to your dr about Zohydro. It is extended release hydrocodone only and you take it twice a day. You also need to be prepared to either not get a prescription or to not get what you are ise to taking on your first visit. The pain dr will also want a copy of your medical records from your current regular dr to prove that there is a medical reason for your pain being severe enough that it might require opiates. You won't be able to find a pain management dr that will treat you without the pain contract, drug panels, etc. Be sure and read the pain contract and make a copy of it for your files. Breaking any of the rules will more than likely result in you being dismissed from pain management without any prescriptions. It will be extremely difficult for you to find another dr to ,manage your pain, if you can find one at all.

My husbands dr prescribed him lyrica & Phenergan together after his neck surgery. Of course we didn't know u aren't supposed to take them together but even the pharmacy didn't say anything. He had to be committed to the psych ward for 10 days till it was out of his system. It made him hallucinate & a bunch of other crazy stuff.
