Pain Killers And Doctors

Updated

I was rear ended in a car accident a month ago.I have anxiety which i have clonazepam for but have not need it for 6months until now.The lady that hit me yelled at me cussing and video recorded me on her phone the whole time. I got whiplash and migraines and stiff neck. I went to doctor was given flexeril, naproxen & hyrdrocodone. I took them for a week even though i am not suppose to take naproxen which is just strong aleve. I have pcos and get gastritis and ulcers easily. 2nd week i am a little feeling better, i can move my meck easier to the left. I stop flexeril because it makes my heart beat fast and trouble breathing, so now just taking half of a hydrocodone when the pain sets in. Now its been a month the stiffness has worsened so i went to see a pain specialist who advised physical therapy which is fine. After an xray showed my spine is straight with no curve. I want to feel better but along with that insisted i take the flexeril, naproxen still. I tried telling him my history and he was not listening. He refused painkillers saying they do nothing. I have not slept right for a week straight. I lay and cry from the pain. Pain killers do something for people in pain!!! I am not saying it will fix my neck but it will give me relief until my problem is healed. So i guess i can suffer and take meds that make my heart pound and i can't breath and one that i was told to never put in my body due to my pcos and stomach issues. Am i crazy???
I don't have a pill problem, I thought they were intended for pain. I wasted money going to a uncaring doctor who i hope one day feels my pain and is sent home crying and told to take tylenol and meds that he can breath on. Sorry i am a fan of breathing and i know my body.

Hello, Nikki! How are you feeling? Wow! I am really sorry about what you're going through.

Why are you paying for this, though? If you were rear ended, then this should be covered by the car insurance of the at-fault party….even if your own has to cover it for now and then sue them for recompense. Do you have an attorney?

It is not correct to say that pain killers do nothing and I have to question the expertise of a specialist that says that….because they do indeed help alleviate pain, but that is all they do, they mask it, they don't solve/cure/fix the underlying problem that is causing the pain.

When do you start therapy?

And is there a different specialist in your area that you could set up an appointment with?

And yes, NSAIDs aren't recommended with PCOS or having had stomach issues, but they may be necessary short term and the stomach damage can usually be mitigated by using antacids with them. However, I am not a doctor and am certainly not trying to tell you to take it, but since it would be only temporarily, that could be why the doctor wanted you to take it.

I have the claim number but the doctor i seen didn't except it and i was told by my insurance that when all this is over it goes faster to pay out of pocket and since are insurance agent is my father in law i trust he knows best and if i use mine then it could raise my insurance.
I have called the first place i was seen at a few weeks ago that gave me 12 hydrocodones, (it was just a urgent care since it was late at night )for a refill and they said they would call back and never did. I guess I have never been through something like this and did not realize that doctors treat you funny when you ask for a pain killer.
I have struggled to just do my day to day activities and took no more then 2 a day if that. I thought doctors had records to show who may be abusing pills and my records would show that i have no history of pills at all. I can't workout like im used to so everything is causing depression.
It could be way worse and i know that, I just don't think it's fair, I didn't cause this and i know many people that abuse pills that have no problem getting them. I think that is what really upsets me.
I did get a mild muscle relaxer and told to take tylenol which is doing nothing for pain. I hope to start therapy next week.
