Oxymorphone Related To Oxycodone? (Page 4)

I need to know if oxycodone is in any way related to oxymorphone. Does oxycodone break down in the system and then throw out oxymorphone chemicals like my doctor told me or is my urine test flawed like I believe it to be. There is no way I could have either one of these in my system yet my doctor (who really does not want to treat pain by medication only due to lack of payment by insurance company) tells me that the oxymorphone in my system is actually a chemical breakdown from the oxycodone. Comments or actual accurate knowledge anyone?

Vicoden is the same thing as Hydrocodone. Percocet is Oxycodone.

My husband has had a couple drug test with his doctor. Everyone til now didn't show that he was taking his meds. He takes Opona, his last appointment the doctor told him that the only thing coming up in his in his urine is Oxycodone.. We've looked into it, we found alot of people are having the same problem.. Has anyone else had this problem, Taking Opona and it showing Oxycodone? Is this normal.?

I just had the same problem. I take hydromorphone and morphine er. My drug test last month showed I had oxymorphone (a very small amount) in my urine. This is impossible because I have not ever taken this drug.

I would have thought the same thing if it didn't happen to me. I have never taken oxymorphone in my 35 years of life yet I tested positive for it after taxing oxycodone and ONLY oxycodone. I am blown away.

When OxyCodone breaks down it shows in a test as oxymorphone. So if your doctor doesn't know this then he shouldn't be practicing medicine...

I have been on opiates for 20 years due to failed back surgery and was prescribed oxycodone for years which seemed to build up a tolerance very quickly. I was switched to oxymorphone which is much stronger for reasons I know but won't detail. The oxymorphone has been more effective for my hands down. The ER actually does last 12 hours and it IR at 1/3 the dose is not only more effective but faster acting for me. That being said oxymorphone is much harder to get off of and the withdrawls are insanely worse than oxycodone.

The difference is it will only show as a VERY SMALL amount that is a sign that its an impurity from the opana now if it shows a signifigiant amount then you took it

Some ppl lack the enzyme tht metabolizes oxycodone into oxymorphone. Ur doc shld hv known this. I think its like 3 percent or so of the population tht lacks it.

wow , i dont come across many other with CMT. does your husband not have AFO or legs braces. walking into a doc/pharmacy with all the gear on shouldnt have someone saying "ohh hes a pill head" even thought that is the issue we face because a few (whole ton) of bad appless. i also take opana (oxymorphone) 10s as well as morphine sulfate(60s). i use to have issues all the time because i was in my 20's and i didnt have insureance at the time to pay for my braces, but after getting them i dont have any issues at pharmacies or new doctors (ive had to switch mine recently) but i wish you husband luck with the CMT

I am a disabled veteran and I take 150 30 mg of oxycodone a month,of course I don't get them from the V.A., in 2008 it was the first time I had ever really taken any pain meds. In my life, at that time I was 44 years old.I had a really good Dr. At the time,I started out on hydrocodine and within the first year I had gotten up to 480 15 MG of oxycodone a month, I know that sounds hi, but I needed every one of them for the type of work I do. But when the big epid3mic started and my Dr. Retired they gave me a head hunter of a Dr. And without any exams testing, or even meeting me she had cut me three hundred pills a month.To make a long story short, just this week I had every urine test I have taken for the V.A. copied for me and 2hen I went through and looked at them, every one of the test I showed positive for oxymorphone.,and a lot of the test even stated at the bottom that high doses of oxycodone condone can show a negative reading for opiates. Doesn't make sense, I hope this helped, and good luck to anyone out there that has a medical problem in this country and can't get the meds. They need just to function at work.I did get a good doctor and I am getting my oxycodone that I need. But at least I'm not trying to get full disability, and the epid3mic that this country is having with heroin I blame on the government for taking away mess. That people really.

Years ago Numorphan was taken off the market because of pharmacy robberies. So it didn't stay too long. It's too euphoric. Oxycodone in instant release is better for pain, and does not have near the euphoric feeling. Oxymorphone is very similar too Heroin and that's the truth. Most pharmacies I know of where I live would freak out at filling one of these prescriptions.
