And what did you want to know? There are many available since the generics are on the market now and they all have different markings depending on which company made them.

Percocet contains oxycodone and tylenol (acetminophen). Originally Oxycontin was a time released form of oxycodone made with a wax so it would release over 6 to 12 hours, in theory. However, since 2006 the FDA had approved a Opana which is nothing like Oxycodone and sold as Oxycontin. Usually these pills will have OP on one side and dosage on other such as 10, 20, 40, or 80. Many people realize how dangerous taking Percocets are due to the Tylenol they contain due to the severe liver damage they can cause, even at normal dosages, particularly if you enjoy a beer or two from time to time. I am not talking alcoholic type drinking, but even casual drinking combined with percocets over a few year period can put you on the liver transpant list. Its horrible for the FDA to even allow this to happen.

They are so afraid of abuse by people who snort or shoot up that they seem to have no regard of the legitimate users of oxycontin. What happens is you may have taken oxycontin for years for chronic pain and your pharmacist is allowed to freely substitute it for Opana which is a completely different formulation and for many people not nearly as effective. Opana is Oxymorphone Hydrochloride. So what happens is you get withdrawal symptoms from Oxycodone when you start taking Opana, which is a slower and less effective medication in many peoples opinion. So your pain spikes, and you are forced to take your tylenol containing breakout pain medication like percocets or vicodin, causing liver damage. Then the next month you might fill your prescription at another pharmacy and they might give you real Oxycontin with Oxycodone and now you are withdrawing from Opana and likely feel better from a pain standpoint, but still have the runny nose, diarrhea, and feeling down or just want to lay in bed all the time.

Please write Purdue drugs and or FDA and let them know how you feel. This is a horrible abuse of physicians who try to give us effective medication and drug companies and FDA are selling us mislabeled drugs without telling us about it causing millions of the most vulnerable people in the US living in moderate to severe pain, many are disabled unwarranted distress and discomfort. It is criminal what is happening.

They would through you in jail if you mislabel organic fruits or vegetables on a wholesale basis, but the FDA has done this. We must through a fit about it.

Some people say asking for your oxycontin to be prescribed as oxycodone ER 80mg instead of using the Oxycontin label might help. Better yet is to have dr write, do not substitute Opana for Oxycodone on the Rx.

Mind you I am not a doctor or pharmacist, so some of my information could be wrong so please don't rely on it in any way to make decisions concerning your health, but do your own research via authoritative sources beside me.
