OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. Day 3 throwing up, stopped taking the pills. Two days have past I now take the Opana, as soon as I started taking the Opana my symptoms were subsiding. I never in my 54 yrs of life felt the sickness I felt those 3 days. I am not an abuser of them. I do take them everyday 3x a day. I normally take the 30mg OC 3x daily and dropped down to 20mg. I call them Oxy Poision OP I will never take another one in my life, even if they tell me they changed it again....

I am very sorry you went through that. Even though this new product is supposed to contain the same medication and work the same as the original Oxycontin, there have been many complaints that it does not seem to do so.

Many people have also experience strange side effects from it.

I suggest you report your experience to both Purdue and the FDA at the following phone numbers:

Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues:

FDA MedWatch number:

I am a ccp that has taken oxycontin 20 mg 4x daily. I never had trouble with this medicine. Yesterday at noon i took my first op not expecting any difficulty in fact thinking they would be better as that is what my NP said. I was dismayed at all day yesterday i felt sedated and something was 'amiss'. Again today i took my normal dose at noon . All afternoon i have been sedated..lethargic..very very bleak. I can't think straight. I just want to lie in bed. How can this be? I read it's the same but more binders. I expected it to take longer to releive pain and thats all.I was not expecting this.I have been taking oxycontin for painful condition's for 10 years. I don't want to live like this. Very achey legs as well.

I have heard of opana. I have tried morphine..demeral .the pain patch but they all left me too drugged and just feeling miserable. The oc did not do this. How is the opana? Is this simular to the oc? Does it make one doppy/sleepy? Does it take care of pain?

Veron..this is so bleak..it took me years to find something that worked well and gave my life back. I was so close to sucide..i could not live with my pain. And then oc was prescribed. It was a mircle medication. Now it's back to sq. one. Finding something that will work. My life is going to be very painful and bleak until i do. Whats more on purdue's website it stated only those who complain are abuser.s So i am fearful to tell doc. But you know what..that anger's me because purdue is lying..they took a little truth and mixed it with one big lie. I read 700,000 are claiming bad side effects..not all are abuser's. I heard that purdue changed the formula to op's because of a lawsuit over children dying. That is tragic..but isn't the thinking flawed? Teens experimentng with drug's is tragic but what about teaching them displine and taking drugs is a no no..do we take cars off the market because of irrepsoible teen's? Alcohol kills more ppl then drugs..is alcohol taken off the market? And what about if someone committs sucide because they are now in too much pain..should the family sue purdue because it indirectly caused a sucide? A million ccp suffer's are now committed to a life of hell..for what?J

My Dr. has me on 2 scripts, 1 is oxycotin 20mg & has that OP printed I take that every 12 hours then I am on the oxycodone hcl 5 mg every 4-6 hours used as a rescue in between & I do try to use as less of the oxycodone as possible for resuce.. I use to be just on the oxycodone but my pain was out of control so to try & lessen meds. taking this is where I'm at. I never used oxycotin before but it does help A LOT! but I am so tired all the time taking it, Dr, did at one time drop it to a 10mg but the pain was getting back to that intense part again, I have lessend my other but again back in pain & still very tired so I thought the cancer was making me this tired but Dr.said it was the oxycotin so I am stuck in a LaLa land it helps my pain with the other as rescue, but have also developed an spasm like a jerk when u are falling asleep at times, when I'm laying down I have no less than 6 b4 I fall asleep & have a few times woke myself with strong ones & sometimes just when I'm sitting & am told that also is from the oxycotin OP I wish there was another way in meds. but need to keep what is helping for pain I have a rare type of cancer called a Chardoma.. I am open to any suggestions that could help in pain I will be having surgery soon & will not want that jerking spasm also from that 1 type of med.

Please help. I was on fentanyl for three years. I have severe back pain...4 surgeries. I have nerve damage and Chronic 24/7 pain. There are other issues, brain tumor and severe headaches... The fentanyl stopped working as well and I didn't want to just keep rasining the dose over 50mcg. Recently PM docs put me on Morphine 60mg 3X a day. I cannot fuction, pain control was great, but so many side effects. I felt like I was under water. Sick and could not fuction. For the time being my doc put me back on the patch until he decides between oxycontin or long acting dilaudid. Any thoughts on which is better for pain relief? I take perc for BT pain now and Lyrica. Thank you so much. God Bless those whose pain never ends.
