I'm on pain management for 3 bulging now possibly herniated discs(I have to get a new MRI and EMG This week) and a knee falling apart from botched surgery. My husband went to the two pharmacies CVS and Rite Aid we use to get my medication. Both said they won't have any for a couple weeks...we just talked to another one and they don't have it either and don't know when they will get it again....what the ever loving f**k is going on! Honestly!

It is actually very common for there to be shortages of controlled substances this time of year. It's due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer hits their yearly limit, they cannot manufacture any new product, until after the new year. Inevitable, dean exceeds supply and we end up with shortages.

The FDA lists this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

The best suggestion I can make is to speak to your pharmacist to see what they do have in stock and then talk to your doctor to see if they will prescribe it, in the meantime.

Does anyone else have any suggestions or advice to offer?

yep working with the pharmacist and have a temporary script for a different narcotic has had to happen to me. I ended up with some patch.... forgot the name... has been years but yeah it kept me out of withdrawals but so far from the pain relief i was used to... but at least i wasnt hurting and sick.... I dont even know if this will land on the forum because of this part but after that experience I started stopping taking them as prescribed... only took them when truly needed which kinda jacks with my mood but if the pharms are empty which happens then I have roughly a month if a year has passed..... I havent looked in a long time but i think i am at the point of weathering a two month drought.... i dont expect a 2 month issue but whatever went through misery before because some bureaucratic bs so instead of looking out for the patients well being the control was taken away from the doctors and handed to people that I am convinced dont understand drug control. So if the last statement didnt get it blocked then this one might.... so i remember when i first was put on it.... if your were in pm its what you were on and it was in most grandparents cabinets... A few years ago these were the things that were given away around here and now they are so short that someone is willing to pay my house payment and most of my car payment? BTW I did check on him a few days later to see how he was feeling because i know how bad withdrawals are and instead of a pill he went to the SE side and scored opiates for actually much cheaper than retail on my generic oxy 15mg could have gone for... unsure what happened to him after that since its been over a year ... who knows maybe should have given him some... i know he was an iv user and the opiate iv users that i see are usually opiate users for life unless they are abnormally strong or just swap addictions. Slight shame they are cutting down on the methadone clinics too.... crime raised when they started cracking down.... now its subutex around here for opiate addicts and most just sell it and go back to using... I am sorry I will rant but the people making the rules are so wrong.... at least here if they let the pills still run fairly freely we would not have cartels moving in... this is the midwest... not socal... the news before i quit watching it gang violence was slightly normal to keep the fear factor up but now they get even better which is cartels that are majorly out gunning the gang members just pushing them out one way or another... i do understand why the no insurance people with legit pain actually go to opiates.... oxycontin 80mg month supply without insurance 1300 with a little variance... this doesnt even cover the instants.... sooooo they cant afford insurance but they are expected to pay 1300-1700 to cover my scripts if it wasnt for insurance.... I never cared enough to ask for prices on the opiates because i dont really care.... I see what its doing to the addiction environment and its a big step back towards a situation my town isnt really suited to handle
