How do you know this is oxycontin? I ask because I just filled a perscription for 20mg oxycontin anf got a pill with 93 on 1 side and 31 on the other. I have never seen this type of pill. I wonder if the pharmacy made a mistake

Please remember that once a drug is released from its proprietary patent, it is manufactured by many different companies and therefore has many different imprints, the imprints, even under one company, will also differ according to dosage as required by the FDA.

93 32 is indeed Oxycodone 40mgs Extended Release, a generic for Oxycontin. The pharmacy DID NOT make a mistake.

We had a patient move into our personal care home and the family brought in 20 pills that had 93/32 but they are are yellowish brown they did not have the original bottle with them . And we are talking about a 71yr old man with 3back surgeries they say it is a 40mg oxycodone . Can you tell me if this is a generic pill. Our pharmacy did not have the 2006 pdr referance to identify the pill. Thank you in advance for your help. Mark A. Grove administrator of Chateau Grove Inc.

Okay, those marked 93 32 are manufactured by Teva, they should be yellow or a yellowish color.

Here's a link to their site with the image:

Age and handling will discolor a pill though, so it could be an old prescription, if they stored it in humid conditions, such as a bathroom that will also discolor the pill. I would say though, if the color is that far off, you should get him a new prescription.
