Oxybutynin How Long Does It Take To Wear Off?

My son has been on oxybutynin er for 6 months. He has recently started having trouble voiding. It seems like his bladder is too relaxed. He is unable to urinate when he wants to, however he when his bladder gets very full he has a large urine accident. Is this a common side effect? How long will it take for the medication to wear off.

I was told it could take weeks to work. It seemed to help me after one day of twice a day, but I was having some weird ache that was in the uterus area, probably my bladder, so I stopped taking it.
Also when I took the day dose I slept all day.
Maybe talk to your doctor if a few weeks pass and you don’t see results. I was taking half a 5 mg tablet and it worked but maybe you need a higher dose.

I been on oxybutynin for four days now ...how long does it take to work ....I have notice I have a strong urge to pee an when I do pee it's clear ....what does that mean ....help ...thanks

Hi. I am just learning about this med as I just started it but I just read online that the shell of the tablet is sometimes not digested but the medication in the pill can be absorbed even if the shell comes out in your stool.

I noticed that the oxybutinin sometimes does not dissolve in my system. Is this normal? It seems to me that if it does not dissolve (I saw the full pill in my stool) which means its not helping. Has anyone else noticed this (not all the time).

Yes, it is listed as a common side effect by the FDA, along with nausea, blurred vision and dehydration.

Oxybutynin's half-life is only about 2 to 3 hours, so its full clearance would be 10 to 18 hours, but it may take a few days for the full effects to wear off, if he's been on it for months.

However, he should have this checked out by his doctor to be sure of what's going on.
