Orange Subutex No Longer Prescribed In Lieu Of Suboxone (Page 2)

To the people that are prescribed the Subutex and were asking the chat board questions about: If you are not a pregnant or breastfeeding woman as of July 1st 2015 then you will be prescribed Suboxone or something else but never just plain Buprenorphine. As far as the orange Halfmoon generic Subutex, you take them the same way that you would take any other kind of subutex / suboxone; they are sublingual.

Thats a lie,im not pregant i am prescribed 3 8mgs subtext daily for past 7years,some of these people on forums do not know what there talking about

I go to a doctor in Pittsburgh and I can tell you the hardest thing to find is a pharmacy that will fill your script. I got lucky and had to go to Ohio. If you can maybe go to Pittsburgh and you have a pa address you should be able to get into a pharmacy there. I am sorry this is so hard. I was discouraged the first day i got my script bc I'm like yes, finally got my script and then couldn't find a pharmacy to fill it.. I went all thru pa. Washington, Pittsburgh, and any where in between I think I called over a hundred pharmacies that day.. found out later that it's better to go into the pharmacies and ask if they will fill your script cus 9 times out of 10 when you call they just tell you no.. good luck and I hope this helps!

Ok. well I thought I was trying to reply to the guy from Washington pa about finding a Dr. I should have looked at the date before posting as it was around 2 years ago and I didn't realize lol. My bad. Also I do have something to say about being on subutex and not being pregnant or breastfeeding. I'm a 33 year old woman and am prescribed 56 8mg sublingual tabs a month.. and it is for drug dependency and i also use it for pain.. And one thing I cant stand is someone bashing us on subs bc we are trying to better our lives and stay off the bad sh*t so for anyone that is bashing us you need to take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself are you perfect? If your answer is no which it should be, bc no one is.. quit judging people that are on suboxone/subutex and give us/them a little support. We are better our lives and that is not something that should be judged..

I've been following this thread for quite a while now and have been on subutex for a few years as well, and have come to the general conclusion that there's a combination of problems leading to the false interpretation of how and when subutex is prescribed. In my opinion, and I am just a recovering junkie who is a mistake away from throwing it all back away, but my opinion is subutex is much easier to abuse given the right mindset, for starters. It's only in a pill form and contains no naloxone, it's pure bupenorphine (excuse my spelling that's not in spellcheck) with buffers of course, that can easily be misused. Beyond that it does not block the brain receptors in the same way that it would once you introduce the naloxone. So given the fact that the "Suboxone" style films (bupenorphine + naloxone) target the addiction in so many more ways than the original bupenorphine alone, doctors as a whole simply do not want to risk prescribing the lesser unless there is medical reason. As far as I know there are no federal laws prohibiting a qualified doctor to prescribe subutex to whomever they see fit, but it still falls back on their license, and if they are good doctors their conscience as well, if someone is to overdose or if the prescription is to be confiscated by police for any other form of investigation (sales, possession charges, etc.).

The primary purpose for the medication is to treat addiction. If the patient has a history of addiction and are actively using or newly recovering they fall into a general category of people who, let's face it are dishonest. They have a higher risk of abusing, selling, or even just losing or having it stolen. So since there is a better alternative, suboxone and similar films (rarely do they still write tablets of suboxone, if it even still exists I'm not 100%) they will tell you whatever it is that they have to tell you to refuse to write it. I've heard so many different opinions in the few years I've been on it, and I've had countless doctors actually provide the medication, and that's where I base my opinion off. I was, in the past prescribed through a clinic, and they went through doctors like crazy, so I heard tons of opinions. I have since gone to a private doctor for my prescription and am now I'm the process of tapering off. I had a severe allergy to the naloxone and that's why I had to switch, but regardless of which medication you are on if you use it properly and want it it's possible. I may seem long winded with my explanation but I've seen so much misinformation on this that I felt I should get as detailed as I could. This medication saved my life and I don't want someone to overlook the opportunity because of people talking on a subject they know nothing about. Hope this helps someone.

I too go to the doc in pa and most clinics there u can leave ur script either them they'll send it to their pharm u pay twenty bucks n will have it the following day twenty bucks plus the script price...also go to rite aid in Monroeville off Willam Penn highway. They never turn people down.

Please someone answer my simple question. Do the orange subutex by Actavis taste like orange suboxone?? I hate that taste. The Roxanne ones were bought up by Hikma but my pharmacy stopped buying from them due to cost now get hitech tiny useless pills. I feel like I'm taking a placebo. I will try the larger orange ones as long as they don't taste orangy.
