Hello, Sue! How are you?

Methadone has been know to cause QT prolongation in some people that take it, that can contribute to high blood pressure and other cardiac issues. Thus, by reducing it, your doctor is trying to see if it is what's causing your blood pressure problem.

Before treating with a high blood pressure medication, it is always advisable to look at other possible factors that could be causing it and see if removing any of them resolves the problem.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
