I am 38 yrs male and I am an ibs patient, it is more than 12 years old. I am always feeling discomfort due to more mucus in my stool. I am taking ofloxacin ornidazole tablets daily. When I stop taking this medicine the flow of mucus is more with or without stool. I want to know, is it safe for me taking this tablet daily?

Hi, Raja! I'm sorry to hear about the problem that you're having.

But no, it is not safe to just continuously take an antibiotic medication, due to the fact that you may develop antibiotic resistance that could cause serious problems in the future, if you were to develop an infection.

What you need to do is consult a doctor to discover what's causing the mucous in your stool. It may not be from anything serious, there are some other medications, medical conditions and foods that can cause it to happen, but there is a chance that its due to a serious problem.

Do you have a doctor that you see regularly?

But when I stop taking medicine, upto 4 to 5 days this is normal but after 5 days I feel discomfort due to more mucus in my stool. Please suggest me what shall I do ? I am 35+ and my pharmacist prescribed this drug ofloxacine onidazole for me because where I am working at the moment I could not get a permit to go do an evaluation. But since I have been taking this drug I been have having a severe lower back pain (is waist pain), difficulty sleeping, and I consume plenty of fluids at night. Because of this I took only 9 tabs out of the 20 tabs he prescribed for me. Pls would there be a side effect cause of this? How can I stop the lower back pain because it's giving me a lot of discomfort as I have not had a sleep since the past 3 days?
