Nucynta Not Available

I’ve been using Nucynta ER for several years and doing well with it. My doctor’s office informed me it might become unavailable because of the hurricanes in Puerto Rico, which is where it is manufactured. When I went to refill at the end of January, sure enough, Not Available. How long before it will be available again, and how can I get on a list to be notified of availability?

In order to find out about current product availability, my thoughts are to get in touch with the manufacturer directly and/or the local pharmacy that generally fills your prescriptions.

Do you happen to know who the manufacturer of your previously filled Rx of Nucynta ER is?

Most manufacturers have a website with their contact information easily accessible, so this is what I would recommend first and foremost.

Please post back if you come across any additional details.

Hey all, I have some info that might be helpful. First, Depomed no longer owns Nucynta. They sold rights to the drug when the shortage began to Collegium. If you call the company, they have a locator service to find the medication at a pharmacy near you and it actually works! They also have a mail order option, which is supposed to be the most reliable way to get Nucynta ER at the moment. It took me a week of frantic phone calls to find this info, so I thought I would put a comment here for others needing this med. Nucynta is a miracle drug for me, with great pain control and almost no side effects. I just spent almost six months getting off more potent opioids, and I was terrified I would have to switch back to meds with less pain control and horrible side effect, ruining the long hard work of getting off them. Hope this info helps someone!

Re: David (# 1)

I called Depomed. They claim there is no shortage. They are lying. I told the guy I spoke with that every pharmacy around says their suppliers can’t get it. My pain management doctor went off on a drug rep that told him there are no supply issues. I’m not sure why Depomed is lying.

I too went to get an rx refill & they said there was a manufacture outage. They had no idea when it would be back. They only had enough for half a month. They filled it with what I had & told me to call my doctor to see if they can rx me something else in the meantime! This makes me so sad because this is the only rx that helps me & I don’t feel drugged!

I contacted the Nucynta manufacturers, and they gave me a hotline to call. I was able to fill out a request on the internet for a distance I was willing to travel to get my RX filled. They supplied me with a pharmacy, I took my script in and they filled it. Depomed (mfg.) also said that production has/is resuming and the shortage should ease.
