Norco 375 10

In Georgia, can my Dr call in a prescription for Norco 375/10, or does it have to be written? Can my Dr put refills on the prescription, or would I have to see the Dr monthly to get another prescription?

Hi Jean,

I believe it is your doctor's discretion to make these types of decisions, because there are many doctors out there who do call in prescriptions everyday, and it seems to just come down to their willingness to do so on your behalf.

My mom actually had her doctor call in her Norco refill a number of times, due to her inability to leave the house frequently; but still had to be there in person to pick it up if that makes sense. However, she lives in California, not Georgia, so this is something you may have to call your doctor about and ask him directly for assistance.

It is always up to the dr. But, if you're asking about what the Laws say, that is different. As of the day I write this Federal Law states that Hydrocodone Combination Products, like Norco are still a Schedule III. That means that under Federal Law, up to 5 refills in a 6 month period can be given and it can be called in. But, Federal Law is in the process of being changed. Later on this year these meds will become a Schedule II under Federal Law. That means that there will bw no refills, none can be called in and you must see your dr at least every 90 days. Your dr can write 3 rxs for a 30 day supply, but few will. New York State is the only state, where these meds are a Schedule II now. In New York State they have been a Schedule II since February 2014.

A lot of the drs are preparing for the change and they are not writting refills and are not calling any in.
