Nexplanon Help

Updated

Hi so i went out a few weeks ago for a couple drinks and somehow I ended up blacking out...i guess i went down to the bathroom and was down there for about 15-20 minutes before my friend came down looking for me...i do not know if anything happened to me that night but I do have the nexplanon have had it since the end of July...i took a plan b just to be extra safe but about 2 weeks later I've been feeling weird different constipated, dizzy with headaches and gurgling/weird feelings in my stomach, sore boobs occasionally and since I got the nexplanon I've been bleeding pretty much the whole time and now last week for 4 days no bleeding then got my period for 3 days now it stopped again...what is the chance something happened to me that night and I could be pregnant or does this spund more like my body finally adjusting to the hormones...i know i need to see a doctor but we've been snowed in for like weeks now

It's actually more than likely that your new symptoms are due to taking the Plan B.

It is a synthetic version of the hormone progesterone that helps prevent implantation, but while doing so, it can affect your hormonal balance and cause some side effects, exactly like what you've described.

Additionally, the Nexplanon contains another synthetic version of progesterone, so you essentially doubled up and overloaded your body.

You're really just going to have to give it some time for things to settle back down and return to normal.

As to blacking out, it takes far more than just a couple of drinks to do that and it is very dangerous, you could get alcohol poisoning, which can be fatal. In the future, please be careful. I'm not saying you shouldn't drink, that's not my decision to make, but please be a little more aware of your limits. This could also happen if you're on any other medications that mixed badly with the alcohol, so keep that in mind, as well, if you really only had a few drinks.

Alternatively, if you only had a couple, someone may have slipped a drug into one of them, which is something you'll need to be very careful of in the future. Don't let anyone else bring you a drink, take it directly from the bartender or waitress only. And, I'm saying this out of concern, since I was date raped when I was very young due to someone slipping Rohypnol in a glass of beer they brought me at a party.

As to anything happening, you would know. You'd know if your clothes were rumpled, or out of place. You'd also know by the way your body feels, especially in specific areas that I'll refrain from mentioning. You are a woman, we know these things, so regarding this, I ask you to calm down and think back, if you didn't show any signs of having intercourse, then you most likely didn't.

When you do see your doctor, please post back and keep me updated, I'm very concerned.

Are there any other questions or concerns?

Thank you for your concern. When I woke up the next morning I didn't feel like anything had happened. I always have exactly what I did that night to drink and I'm always just fine but this time not so much. I'm always very careful but I could have looked away for a second because it's a bar I always go to and I'm comfortable at so I guess anythings possible...I will be going to the doctor next week, please keep your fingers crossed it's been about a month since that night and I'm still feeling weird but not as bad as I was but I will keep you posted thank you again for your advice and helpful words.

Hello, my nexplanon implant ran out in January 2017. I had a period on the 9th of January and now have not had a period for 32 days? I've done a pregnancy test and it's negative, so why haven't I had a period?
