My Boyfriend Drinks 2 Half Pints Of Vodka Day After Work Then 10 Hours Later He Goes To And They Say Smells Like Alcohol Would Keppra Make H

My boyfriend just got a new job and he's taking keppra. After work he drinks 2 half pints and stops @ 12am He then goes to work @ 9 am and they are telling him he smells like alcohol. Could his meds be being out what he had the night before.,?

What is your boyfriend drinking? 2 pints of some kind of alcohol with the Keppra? The smelling like alcohol isn't the issue here! He is not going to wake up to go to work some morning! It's not only drinking that much, but drinking at all with medication is like playing Russian Roulette. It can very likely kill him. He needs to go into an Alcohol Rehabilitation Center NOW! Believe me! A friend of mine took her medicine and drank a 6-pack of beer and never woke up. Please try to get him help now!

If he's drinking that much, every day, then the scent will linger in his body and leech out through his sweat glands. My mother was an alcoholic, as well as my uncle and you could smell it on both of them constantly. It happens any time someone drinks very large amount of booze on a daily basis.

And as was already stated, he's placing himself in danger from the alcohol and from mixing it with his medication. Drinking in moderation is one thing, but he's drinking more than anyone should each day.

The fact that he is taking such a medication also complicates things, combining it with alcohol can worsen the side effects, making one drink affect him as if he'd had two and so on. He may get much more dizzy, nauseous, and drowsy than usual.

If he is taking Keppra to prevent seizures, then he's also putting himself at risk of causing them do to alcohol withdrawal.

He really does need to get help.
