Since taking this inhaler - My breathing has improved greatly - but I am in extreme pain - don't want to stop taking - pain is better than not breathing. Any ideas?

Symbicort contains the active ingredients Budesonide and Formoterol to treat asthma and COPD.

I am not finding anything that lists this as normal side effect.

Have you discussed this issue with your doctor to discover what is causing the pain?

You should not be experiencing extreme pain from a medication.

I experienced lower back pain, pain shooting up my right calf, swollen aching ankles and severe muscle spasms. My entire body ached, dizziness, lightheaded, depression, anxiety, hair loss (I am currently wearing a wig), excessive flem production, severe headaches, pounding in my ears, slurred speech at times, heart palpitations, sluggishness, constipation, frequent urination, bleeding gums, aching gums, chills, loss of voice, muffled hearing, confusion, increased hunger, stiffness, tremors. I woke us last week and my left eye socket was extremely sore and remained that way for the rest of the day. It was such an oddity that I googled and found MANY people have experienced the same symptoms on Symbicort. I have taken 80/4.5 for a year and just upped my dose to 160/ 4.5 3 weeks ago. I'm glad I did because all of my symptoms became more severe causing me to research Symbicort side effects! Over the past year I've been to an eye surgeon, an oral surgeon and was on crutches for awhile after I sprained my right ankle when i just fell over...the pain was so severe. I NEVER get sick and ended up using 2 sick days from my job. (I have weeks of sick time banked!) None of the doctors nor I knew what was causing my "illnesses". I've been off of Symbicort just over a week now and I feel great! The aches and pain have been greatly reduced and now I'm healing from Symbicort. I found a book at the health food store called You're Not Sick You're Thirsty. I have had asthma all of my life. I'm going to try natural methods now.

I have copd, am on symbicort and suffer agonising back pain and spasms.
My doctor says that there are no more inhalers for me to try because I am either allergic to them or they do not work. Feel abandoned. C cannot exercise as I am severely disabled with osteo/rh arthritis and osteoporosis

I take 400 mg of Magnesium a day and the muscle spasms and cramping are better. I hardly have any now, and not as severe.

I was on symbicort for only two weeks and experienced severe back and side spasms and stomach cramps. So bad I was up crying up night. Cramping and spasms are a side effect of this medication. Did great for my asthma, though. Since I have improved, am back on Advair. Another person suggested 400 mg. of magnesium for the pain. If I have to go bcc on it, I will try it. There are other similar posts on the web related to Symbicort and excruciating pain.

I have a correction to my previous post. I was on Symbicort for 9 weeks, not 2.
