Mirapex Side Effect: Hypersexuality

I take Mirapex ER 3.75 mg for Parkinson's Disease. I have had hypersexuality since I begin taking Mirapex almost 2 years ago. I would like to know how other PD patients that have experienced hypersexuality are managing this side effect.

I have been taking Mirapex since 2008. I stopped taking it two weeks ago due to the compulsive behaviors that they caused. If you read the tiny small print on the RX sheet, it will say.....may cause compulsive gambling, sexual, drinking, or shopping behaviors. This drug has caused my to do crazy things the last couple of years. I have lost a huge amount of money at the casino or scratch ticket, had excessive amounts of alcohol and my sexual desires were out of my mind. I was in a very dark place. Thoughts of suicide even were in my thoughts a few times. Since i stopped this drug, my behaviors have gone away. I seem to be back to my normal self. I hope that some people read this and will bring awareness of this BAD drug. It just needs to be discussed about the possible side effects......because most people will not discuss there behaviors freely.

I take mirapex .5MG, although I like the increased libido and can't see myself w/out this Med. I would tell your Doc. what you are feeling. Mirapex may not suit you if you are doing things you later regret.
