Hello, Linda! How are you?

Metoprolol is a beta blocker and it can cause those types of side effects in some people that take it, along with nausea, dizziness, hypotension, hair loss and stomach pain.

However, when taking something for high blood pressure, it is very important to not just stop taking it, without replacing it with another medication. If you stop abruptly, it may cause rebound effects, which could include elevated heart rate and blood pressure that could lead to heart attack or stroke.

Thus, the best thing to do would be to inform your doctor, so they can prescribe something else for you to try. Sometimes, you need to try several different medications, before finding one that works for you, without making you miserable. It took me over a year of trying various ones.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Thank you for the information. I called the doctors office yesterday to ask them to please give me something different. They came back and said the Doctor asked me to try taking it at night. I don't want to do this. I just want something different.Don't understand why he would be giving me such a problem about that,

It is the most commonly used medication and one of the safest, so most doctors just want to stick with it. I had the same problem, when I was first diagnosed with hypertension. It took a long time and full congestive heart failure, before I found a doctor that would work with me to find medications I could take that didn't make me miserable.

There is a good chance that after you've been on it for 3 to 4 weeks, those side effects might wear off, once your body gets used to the medication. That's the way it usually works and most doctors will be reluctant to switch you, before that time period.

How long have you been on it, now?
