Methamphetamine In Hair

I took at drug test at TASC on the 18th of August and then i took a second hair follicle test at PSI on the 8th of September to prove that my prescriptions made my first test inaccurate. The results will shock you. My second test stated 1,741 my first test done at TASC run by CPS stated 91,746. OMG is right. Case manager asked me "why are you doing a second hair follicle test if the numbers are going to be the same?" I told her they were to prove that my prescriptions had a negative impact on my first test. Spoke with a lab technician, he said there is no way my number could go from the 90,000 to almost 2000 in only 20 days. The numbers should have been closer, but if you cover up the 9 on the first test results, you can see why I am sceptical that the first test may have been altered. My children were taken from me, and I was considered highly dangerous, CPS told my husband to leave me, and now I am in an IOP program to get over my extremely high addiction. Although pg/mg cut offs go like this:

500-2,500 low use occasionally
2,500-7,500 medium use, daily, not constant
7,500+ heavy use, daily constantly.

What is 90,000 considered? I am about 100 pounds soaking wet, not sure why no one sees the discrepancy here. If someone has any advice, any at all, please write me back, thanks

I've seen some higher than 90,000 but that is still a lot. At that level you would have a very hard time getting off methamphetamine. I am assuming you signed a chain of custody forms and have a copy of the form. Most labs have procedures in place to make sure that a sample is not mixed up with another person's sample but it might be possible they did mix it up. When people in your situation call me the only suggestion is to do you own Hair 5 Drug Panel Test, not with TASC, PSI or CPC. You didn't say what prescription meds you were on but I am assuming (again) that it is adderral or vyvanse (or some ADHD drug).

I had no trouble at all, I never really did it much. I had some about 11 days before but came up positive on my UA which I thought was odd as well. I was not on any ADHD meds. I had a staff infection and I was on bactrim. Along with all the other meds I take daily for asthma and allergies and migraines. Which are Ventolin, excedrine migraine, Tylenol sinus and flonase. My second test was at lab express, and the lab tech there was the one who said it wouldn't be possible to drop so drastically in only 20 days. I am dealing with CPS so of course they are the ones I have to speak with about my results from TASC, TASC will not give me more information and they will not look at my test again. I have recently just done a third hair follicle test going back 5 months. The cover my last two months of sobriety plus the 3 months that were included on my first test. I am hoping this test will be enough to prove my case. The 1741 on my second test seemed closer to where I should have been, but because my first test was so high, no one wanted to take prescription into account because it wouldn't have mattered. Which they are right, but because I am sure a number may have been placed in front thats why I am doing another test. I had paid for these last two tests out of pocket to prove the first test was inaccurate and I can get my child soon.

Can a hair follicle test be negative for amphetamine but positive for methamphetamine? Could a 1 year old child test positive in a hair follicle if they were exposed to methamphetamine prenatally? Would sweat or secondhand exposure as clothing of a person smoking it cause a child to test positive for methamphetamine in hair follicle test?

It might be possible for a hair test to show methamphetamine and not amphetamines. I think it would depend on how the methamphetamine was made. I've tested some infants and as I recall they could show positive for methamphetamine because the mother took methamphetamine while pregnant. In most of the cases the baby was directly given methamphetamine. It is unlikely an infant would get methamphetamine exposure due to secondhand smoke or from clothing. of course it might depend on the circumstances of exposure but for the most part the infant has to ingest the drug before it will be positive. What level and drug did the child test positive at?? How long was the babies' hair? Each 1.5 inch sample will go back 90 days.

Baby's hair was not more than 2-3 inches and the results allege positive for amphetamine with no amount. and positive for amphetamine with 1651 pg/mg. I do not have a reason to lie to you; you do not know me, just so you know I am genuinely trying to figure this out. I did take it sporadically during pregnancy, but her meconium tested negative on 3 separate tests. I remained clean for a year then took it again a few times, probably on 5 different occasions in December and January, however never near my kids, not even in the same house as my kids, subsequently i had a positive mouth swab at 44 ng/mg in january prompting DCS to test our kids by hair follicle, a few other factors, the baby SSN is not correct on the results, the time collected is not correct and the Foster placement works at a forensic lab.

1651 pg/mg would indicate low or recreational use. If you only took it approximately 5 times in a year it should have never shown up in a hair drug test. A 1.5 inch sample of hair, cut at the scalp line, will go back 90 days from the date collected. If you know the date collected then you can figure out the time frame and how much you ingested over that 90 day time period. But if it was only a few times it is very puzzling how the baby would be positive. Only and Medical Review Officer (MRO) can give you a possible reason why. A MRO is a doctor trained to read drug test results and give an indication of what is going on. You can find an MRO at aamro.com and look for the link that says "Find a MRO in your area". I have no affiliation with the site.

In regards to the babies SSN and time collected, if you think the chain of custody was not done properly and it is not your baby's hair you need to tell someone. I am assuming you have a copy of the chain of custody?? As the parent and/or legal guardian you should have been the one to sign the chain of custody. You can always do your own Hair 5 drug panel test on the baby now to see what is going on. I would need to ask many more questions to get at idea of what is going on and that would be best done in a one to one talk.
