Methadone Withdrawal Help

Hi,

I live in Salem, Oregon. Ive been on methadone for about 9 years now. recently my medication got seriously wet. Ill be 4 days short now on my meds because my new doctor is new and won't do an early refill. Ive withdrawn once in the past. Im really scared. Is there a way to lesson the withdrawals. Id like to not have to go through it at all

Hello, Ellen! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.

In the future, please store your medications in a location where they can't get wet. Most doctors, even if you aren't new to seeing them, will not provide an early refill. Their prescribing practices are very closely monitored by the government.

Did you ask them about possibly cutting the tablets to lower your dosage for a few days? That might help to stretch it out and prevent full withdrawals.

The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Thank you. What I ended up having to do was go to the ER before it got really bad. My doctor did tell me to go If I felt I had to. As soon as I started talking to someone there I told them I was not here for pain medication. I really just wanted anything to help me through herbal I didn't care. I was above honest with them about all details including my pain contract and kept reiterating to all new staff and doc asking what i needed. They all were gravely concerned because i also have poor health to some extent. The ER doctor decided to prescribe me 6 tabs 2/ 10mg a day til tomorrow Tuesday the 27th. They also made sure i took one there. I emailed my doctor s soon as i got back with all the details as well. I try really hard to be compliant. I have now read through dea laws. My right as a methadone patient with chronic pain. I bought a safe that is not only fire proof s well as water proof.

This isn't happening again. I know i need this medicine because while i was on very little i couldn't walk or move just tell in pain sadly.

I have to flee nyc because domestic violence issues to orlando florida, but I'm on methadone. Every clinic i call they charge an arm or a leg. Plus i dont qualify for florida because i have no children. Does anybody know anybody who helps with these fees or a program that's not so expensive? I need help asap.

If I was you I’d lessen your daily dose each day just to make sure that you have something to take for those 4 days instead of having nine at all. Methadone withdrawals are hell. I hope that everything works out for you. God bless you
