Methadone And Ultram

I am on 90mg of methadone a day. How come ultram can't be taking while on methadone. Is ultram consider a narcotic now?

Hello. From my personal experience before I started M (short for Methadone) I was on Flexeral and I chose to stop it because my belief is the less medicine in general the better. I was on this for Fibromyalgia for five years and I never noticed any relief. After I was on it six months I was prescribed Ultram for R.L.S. and I started noticing the m was not holding me for the entire day and I began having cravings as well as all the symptoms one has coming off opioids.The craziness of it all...I had a visiting nurse and she was unaware that Ultram pulls the chemical properties and effectiveness of what m is produced and designed to do. So I decided to look into this myself and come to find out exactly what I said earlier through SEVERAL replicable medical sites. Hope this helps.

In addition to post #1's experience, research from umm.edu suggests that using Methadone and Tramadol (Ultram) together may cause Tramadol to not work as well. They also go on to state that this combination could increase your risk of developing certain side effects, such as blood pressure problems, changes in body temperature, impaired thinking, etc. However, if you are intending on using both medications together, it is recommended that your doctor monitor the dosages and/or how frequently you take either medication in conjunction with one another to help minimize these risks.

To answer your last question, Tramadol is recognized as a "non-narcotic" medication even though its effects are considered to be similar to narcotics.
