Metformin And Lipozene

Can I take lipozene with metformin? I take four 500 mg of metformin a day.

According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are interactions listed between the active ingredient in Lipozene (Glucomannan) and Metformin. These precautions note that 'taking Glucomannan with an anti-diabetic agent may cause blood sugar levels to drop too low'. Furthermore, taking the two together can reportedly increase your risk of certain side effects. And lastly, they also recommend contacting your doctor if you were to experience any of the following symptoms while taking these two substances: blurred vision, confusion, headaches, excessive sweating, nervousness, jitters or shakes.

Having said that, it sounds to me like it would probably be a good idea to contact your doctor about safer alternatives to Lipozene; unless he/she can put in place a specific dosing regimen that may help to reduce your risk of a more serious interaction between the two substances.
