Medicaid Doctor Who Prescribes Adderall In Al

I am on Medicaid and having trouble finding a physician who takes it much less one that will treat for ADD. I've been treated by another doctor before and diagnosed with ADD along with other issues but that was with BCBS. Please reply if you know of a Medicaid provider in the Birmingham or St Clair County area who will treat ADD/ADHD & precribe necessary medicine. thank you!

Most PCPs will not treat such a condition and prescribe the appropriate medications, due to the new directives that were set forth by the DEA last year. Most will just refer you to a specialist, which in this case would be a psychiatrist.

Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need.

The FDA lists this medication as being a stimulant, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, mood swings, insomnia and weight loss.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
