I've been taking Lyrica for nerve pain and also for opiate withdrawal. But I don't like Lyrica so I'm thinking of going back to Gabapentin. I just want to know whether 300mg of Gabapentin could possibly work for me?

Hello, Amy! How are you?

No, Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin. They are both anticonvulsants that have been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, but they are different substances.

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain.

Only your doctor can decide if it may help you and what the appropriate dosage would be.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I have lupus, fibromyalgia, Ra and OA I take 300 milligrams of Gabapentin three times a day with my oxycodone 10mg for the rest of my pains that I have. It works perfectly well for me. they wanted to put me on the Lyrica but after watching my husband's grandfather on it and the mood swings and just all the craziness that went on with that medication I told my ra doctor I did not want to be on that medication. The best combination that I have found for me that works is my gabapentin 300 milligrams 3 times a day, Diclofenac 75mg 2 times a day for inflammation and my oxycodone 10mg 4 times a day if needed Lyrica is just such a scary drug and I honestly hope you're doing okay on it and I really hope you changed just for you and your family. But that's just my experience in my opinion

Avoid LYRICA at ALL costs! It is a toxic drug that does more harm than good - especially long-term and years after stopping it. BEWARE!
