Hello, Helen! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.

It is normal for your pulse rate to lower at night, when you're being sedentary or sleeping.

But yes, Tramadol can cause depression of the central nervous system, which may make it go even lower. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

What dose are you on? How often do you take it? Do you take any other medications?

Are you having any other symptoms, such as dizziness, severe drowsiness or trouble breathing?

Have you consulted your doctor?

My wife was diagnosed as having congestive heart failure. She continues to have a low heartbeat. She takes oxecodone [ 15mg ] every 5 hours. Could this med contribute to her low heart rate?

Hi, Jounior! How is your wife doing?

It could contribute to it, yes.

However, the most important question is what other medications is she on?

If she has CHF, then she's likely on diuretics and blood pressure medications, which can all lower heart rate, as well. Thus, they would be the most likely culprits.

JOUNIER HERE AGAIN:
YES MY WIFE IS ON 'AMLODIPINE ' FOR HER HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. SHE ALSO TAKES SATALOL, OMEPRAZOLE, FOROSEMIDE, SINGULAR FOR ASHMA, PRAVASTATIN. SO MANY OF THESE GOING INTO ONE LITTLE BODY COULD UPSET THE HEART RATE. ONE LAST THING SHE IS ON
WARFARIN ALSO. IT ALL KEEPS HER TICKING AWAY. BELIEVE IT OR NOT SHE SHOWS SIGNS OF IMPROVING.
