CDUB,
I'm afraid that most pharmacies in that area will not even admitt to having the rx in stock when they learn your self pay and if they do they will quote you a price I'm sure your unable or unwilling to pay ( that's the way they get around all the complaints and grievances filed in the recent path. If you have a written rx in hand you'll most likely have a better chance at non big pharma chain drugstores but you'll pay there immoral and illegal " convenience fee " for filling said csn rx. Hope you have better luck finding one then most have had in the past in your area,

Hey snappy, do you know a good pain
Doc in Baltimore md. I am having a hard time finding a doc that understands painful bladder syndrome and have found the only relief I really get is from pain meds. I'm not looking for strong meds daily. Mainly just needed for flare ups. I have records that show my hospital stays for kidney infections, flank pain, and have even tried physical therapy. I don't have mris but I have gotten cat scans but they just show uric acid inside. I have done all the surgeries like cystocopies and physical therapy to no avail. Email if you have any ideas.

Understandingdocneeded, you won't find a pain management doctor that will prescribe you pain meds for flareups only. Have you talked to your regular doctor ? Most new doctors don't like prescribing pain meds for flareups because it could be something else. The pain meds could prevent treatment being sought. New doctors don't know you and your conditions like previous doctors did. After you have been with a regular doctor for a while, they "might" be comfortable with prescribing you pain meds PRN for flareups.

Yes whenever I go to my PCP during a bad flare up, she writes me a script to get me thru. However with flare ups at least twice a month, i feel like I am constantly in her office so I actually try to just push thru the pain. I have tried cognitive behavioral therapy and acupuncture and i haven't found it successful. Last time I saw her I told her I thought maybe some holositic approaches would work so she told me if I found a doctor I thought would help, to let her know. My insurance doesn't require referrals so I just found my acupuncturist and therapist on my own. So do I need to tell her to refer me to a pain specialist? Are you telling me a pain management doctor would not prescribe small dosages of pain medication if I don't need or want to take it everyday? I should be able to mobile and am young and I cannot even motivate myself to do activities on the weekends when I'm not working because my body is exhausted and hurts. Not to mention, I have to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Maybe I am underestimating my need for medication and just trying to avoid it? Ive seen every doc in the book, gyno, PCP, acupuncturist, therapist. I just feel out of options. Do you know any good doctors in the area!

Hey snappy are you in Maryland? What doctor are you currently using?

Understandingdocneeded, Pain Management Doctors usually see patients every 30-90 days. Most see patients once every 30 days. You have to sign a Pain Contract stating you won't receive any pain medications from another doctor. You also have to agree to random drug panels. You may or may not be able to find a pain doctor that will only require you to come in once every 60-90 days.

If your insurance does not require a referral, call your insurance company and ask for a list of Pain Management Doctors in your area that take your insurance. You will need a copy of your medical records from your current doctor proving you have a medical condition that may require opiates. A pain doctor may or may not prescribe the same medication at the same dosage your pcp has. If your PCP does not have a problem continuing to prescribe your pain meds when you need them, you might be better off sticking with just your PCP.

Does your insurance pay for Holistic Medicine/Treatments? If it does, that is unusual.
