Long Term Addiction To Xanax

Updated

I feel led to share with you guys my nightmare journey with Xanax. I have been taking it for well over 15 years. Sometimes, I would take quite a bit during some very rough situations in my life.

I tried to stop a year ago and ended up in the Emergency Room of our local hospital. I asked my doctor for help getting off this nightmare drug, but she just said "taper" off.
Finally I read different blogs of people who have stopped and became really inspired.
You all know the horror of this drug. I had serious headaches, nightmares and memory problems to the max.
This drug gives you ANXIETY. I am down to one half of a 1mg quarter and about to stop altogether as I cannot take the nightmares.

This horrible drug, caused me to make very poor decisions during the past years. I lost of all my money on a Ponzi scheme. Had I not been in a brain fog, this would not have happened.
I also had been on serious pain medication for a number of years which resolved after a knee replacement surgery.
NEVER AGAIN...FREE AT LAST from Big Pharma evil drugs.

I am very sorry about what you've been through and thank you for sharing your story.

However, I would like to note that while Xanax is listed by the FDA as possibly being habit forming, it does help many, many people. It's also known that it could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

Stopping abruptly, after being on it for a long period of time, can be dangerous, since it creates the risk of seizures, thus a slow taper is the preferred method. However, the doesn't make it an 'evil drug' since it can be very beneficial.

How are you feeling, now? Have you stopped entirely, yet?

Xanax is a medicine to worry about very seriously when withdrawing. While on it, it can rewire your brain, but will not harm you terribly unless you abuse it. My suggestion, if you don't use it stay far away from it!

I agree with Vernon, I have been taking Xanax for twenty years at night for sleep. Without it I couldn't fall asleep and my body doesn't go into a deep sleep. I have tried everything else my doctor's have asked me to and nothing works, not sleeping pills, antidepressants, melatonin.

Well and its Verwon, Xanax is not a sleeping medicine, although used by many who think so. The problem is those who use it for this purpose are more prone to abuse it, compared with those who use it for anxiety. Its bad stuff yet Ive never met a Doctor to say no to this day, go figure?
