I am 53 and have been taking lo loestrin fe 1/10 for about two years. I stopped taking it for 2 months and have lots of hot flashes and mood swings. I have started taking junel 1/20. What is the difference in these two drugs? When/Will the hot flashes etc stop?

Hello, Sarah! How are you?

Yes, that would happen if you stopped taking abruptly and two months wasn't enough time to allow your body to balance things back out on its own.

From what you've listed, the Junel contains twice the amount of estrogens as the other.

And its difficult to say when they will stop, it could take awhile for the hormones to balance back out.

Have you consulted your doctor for advice?

I was on Lo Loestrin for years. Had to switch to junel fe or Blisovo for insurance reasons. Both have twice the amount of Lo Loestrin. I have since gained 7 pounds and have heavier bleeding. Can I cut the others in half to get back down to 10 mg?
