Lisinopril 80 Mg

Can you take more than 80 mg of Lisinopril in one day? Just curious, to know if there is a higher dosage than 80 mg?

While some patients have shown a better response to 80mg dosages, the maximum recommended daily dose is usually only 40mgs, because there is limited data available on the 80mg doses and no, it is not considered safe in doses higher than 80mgs.

Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, frequent urination and stomach pain.

I am on 80 mg but weaning off. Ask your Dr about a diuretic if your BP is still high. Mine was 160/105 for 9 mos. My other Dr put me on diuretic and is is now normal after less than a week. I feel 80 mg is too high and Lisinopril can be a dangerous drug. (i.e.side effects). Talk to your Dr and do your research. Best wishes!

Hi. I was on 20 mg of Lisinopril a day for 3 years and immediately started gaining weight. Then my blood pressure went up and my Dr put me on 20 mg twice a day. Weight and blood pressure still went up, so he put me on 40 mg twice a day plus added a statin. 9 months later I have gained 100 pounds over 5 years and my blood pressure is a constant 160/105. I also have a cough, frequent chest congestion and 4 years ago was diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus. I also have hyperhomocysteinemia. I went to my psychiatrist last week and expressed my BP concerns. She put me on 12.5 mg of a diuretic. My blood pressure dropped steadily and is now normal. I am dropping down to 40 mg a day of Lisinopril instead of 80 mg. I don't like my Dr and cant believe he kept my dose up instead of a giving me a diuretic. Especially with the massive weight gain. I am going to cut the 40 mg in half until I find a better Dr. I was wondering if Lisinopril can cause Barretts Esophagus? I am choking on most foods, including bits of carrots in my soup tonight. I was put on Prilosec for the BE and I hate taking it. Thanks.
