I am the same. I have lost 85 lbs over the last 1 year. I have gastroparesis. After 120 days on linzess I am up 15 lbs. I was holding my weight before this prescription. I'm gonna stop this for a week and see what happens. I actually fasted for 1 1/2 days taking weight in A.M. and P.M. only having water and fruit juice (Low Sugar) and didn't lose anything?

Hi Chuck,

I don't know if this is would accurately describe the type of weight gain you mentioned, but according to, Linzess (Linaclotide) is known to cause swelling or a feeling of fullness/pressure in the stomach region that may appear as added weight. It can also cause excess gas to from, which may also contribute to feeling bloated. I'm thinking perhaps either of these side effects could be the culprit, but it's only speculative at this point.

Have you considered trying to take digestive enzymes and/or probiotics to help your body metabolize food more efficiently?

Yes I watch the Know the Cause show with Kaufman and I'm taking the Dr. Ohhira Probiotics. Work well. As of testerday I am down 12 lbs. without trying. I'm 6'7 and 243 now. Thanks for your response

Nice going on the weight loss! I actually took a moment to do some research on Dr. Ohirra's probiotic formula, and must say that it looks quite promising based on the ingredient profile as well as several hundred 5 star reviews on Amazon to back up their claims. I take a probiotic by HealthForce and have experienced great results with it; but may look into trying other brands just to expand my horizons.

Thanks again for keeping us posted on your progress without taking Linzess. It sure sounds like stopping the treatment made all the difference in order to drop 12lbs so quickly - Especially after reading that the fasting didn't work!

Hi. Here's the rundown. I am 59 yo male that was 457lbs. at age 20. I had bypass surgery and went down to 210. Surgery need reversing after 3 months. Staples busted on 1st surgery and hernia problems. I have never been able to lose weight. Somehow this modified Akins/Kaufman stuff has worked for me. I've been on Ohhira for about 1 year. Check 'mynaturalmarket' for pricing. What I have been doing is taking the Linzess about every 2nd to 3rd day and this A.M. after 9 days I'm holding at 242 lbs. I was 253 when I slowed linzess. My doctor said O.K. I am taking Miralax on the other days, but for gastroparesis it's not too good. Please take care of yourself.

I've noticed the weight people are talking about seems to be water weight. I had a doc appointment after taking linzess about 5-6 hours before. By then side effects had subsided but I was still bloated. Doc said I weighed 4 pounds more than last. By time I got back home I had to urinate; did so, stomach flattened, cand I was back down to 127. Let the side effects wear off and its like watching your stomach deflate. So you really haven't gained weight.

I have every test known to man & I haven't been able to move my bowels normally for 8 months. I have tried Linzess & Amitiza & neither work w/o massive laxitives & stool softeners. This has totally changed my life. I've always eaten good nutrition, no meat, mainly veg., fruit, grains, eggs & fish.. Ive taken Mirilax but it makes the situation worse. I have taken 2 bottles of sodium citrate back to back & nothing happens. I've was also prescribed GoLytly, but took so much I developed an auto immune disorder from it & had to stop. I don't know where to go now for help. I have no urgency to move my bowels even though an anal monometry showed no problem with spinster muscles. Please all suggestions & experiences are welcome. Let me know if you've ever heard of this. Thank You!

I have been on Linzess for 4 months now. And it has helped me cure my battle with Sibo. However I have gained 20lbs despite eating an incredibly strict diet and exerciseing everyday. I am so sad that something so great has caused this. I am going off this drug.
