My boyfriend is coming back from college and he is only going to be in town for the weekend. I started my white pills this past Sunday but want to be done with my period by Friday night or early Saturday. This is my first month taking it so I'm not sure how my body gonna work with it yet. My periods are usually a full 7 days. Do periods tend to be shorter when on sprintec? If not can I start my blue pills on Thursday or Friday to make my period end sooner?

For the first few months on birth control, your menstrual cycle is actually usually longer than your normal cycle, because your body has to adjust to the hormones.

Sometimes, it is even skipped altogether, which may happen if you are lucky.

However, once you have started the inactive tablets and not taken the active ones for a few days, there is no way to stop the cycle, not even by starting the active tablets, again.

It is safe, to have sex during your menstrual cycle, however it can be messy. And, since you haven't been on the pills for a full month, yet, you should still use additional protection, such as condoms to ensure pregnancy prevention.

For the future, you should also know that it is safe to skip your period for a month. If he is coming to visit again and it is time for your cycle, just skip the inactive tablets and keep taking the active ones for that week to prevent your cycle from starting.

Are there any questions or comments?

Hi, I recently started sprintec. It says on the instructions it is safe to have sex 7 days after a sunday start. My boyfriend and I waited, and I did everything I should like taking the pills on time. However I finished the blue(active) pills on saturday night and took a white one on sunday night at 9 pm. I took one on monday, and tonight I will take my third. We did have sex sunday night, but I thought it was fine to. Since its my first time on sprintec, I don't know when I'd normally start my period during the week of white nonactive pills. Is it possible I'm pregnant even if I followed all the directions? Or do some peoples periods come later then others once the white week has started. Please help me! Thanks

This is my first time being on Tri-Sprintec and I'm on the last week (which is the white pills) and I've taken 3 of them. I know you're suppose to start your period sometime during the week of the white pills. Being that this is my first pack will I start on the white pills. It just makes me nervous because if i don't start could I be pregnant? When we had sex we used extra protection and he pulled out. So am I just being worried or is there something I should be concerned about? Thanks!

I was on Sprintec for almost a month. I had protected & unprotected sex on a Saturday night before the white pill. Then when I began taking the white pill I didn't start my period until Wednesday and it was on and off. Some days heavy other days light, and some days no bleeding. Is that just because of being on the pill for the first whole month or could I be pregnant? :(

Im 21 and have never been on ANY birth control meds. I started taking Sprintec 28 on July 8th, about 7-9 days before my period. On july 19th i started spotting everyday till the 24th, which then led to my actual period. Iam now on my 6th day of my period (which usually last 5 days) and it looks like its not coming to an end anytime soon(still heavy).i have been bleeding since 10 days stright! im kinda scared. Im also on the first white pill of my first pack. did i take the pills right? i never missed a day and Planned parenthood didnt tell me to take them the first sunday after my period starting. I started taking Sprintec mainly for birth control, the other effects of the pill as in lighter periods and less acne was just a plus...but now I kinda regret taking it i dont know whats happening to me

This is also my first pack since having my last kid 5 years ago. I'm on my 4th day of inactive white pills and still haven't gotten my period either. I'm having all the symptoms (cramping and what not) just no period. You're not the only one (-: Now I guess we sit and wait.

Was placed on Ministriin to lighten my extremely heavy cycle. My cycle started light but got heavier by the day (and after 2 months), it was heavy again.

The doctor switched me to Springtec, more estrogen. After 3 days, my cycle is back to being very, very heavy. Is this normal? Does my body just need to get adjusted to it?
