K 66 Pink Round Pill

Is this Dextroamphetamine? It doesn't seem to work like the one I was on before. I have taken this medication for years. I don't know if it's just the manufacturer?

Yes, this tablet is manufactured by KVK Tech and they list it as containing 10mgs of Dextroamphetamine. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nervousness, nausea, insomnia, headache, and anorexia.

If you've been taking it for a long time, your body may have built up a tolerance to it, which means you may need to have your dosage adjusted, or you might need to try a different medication.

How many years have you been taking it?

I've taken dexedrine or dextroamphetamine sulfate for a long time. It's quite an effective drug, in that it does not have the harsh side effects as adderall does. However, this certain brand which I just got prescribed recently, is nowhere near the strength of the other brands that I have tried in the past. I am not very happy with his brand.

Me too! I've been taking generic for Dexedrine 10 mg tablets for many years and in the same dosage. Moved out of of state recently and given both KVK Tech and Teva for 1st time. I noticed a huge difference in their efficacy! Didn't work well @ all, and more side effects as well. I had anxious, jittery feeling similar to having too much caffeine, while they barely addressed my ADD symptoms!!! With the Teva one I'd sweat profusely @ times--so embarassing and uncimfortable!!!

Re: JJ (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Reference your post 20 June 18. "I fully agree with you". I have been on Ritalin non stop from 1994 to 1997, and, either Dexedrine brand (GSK) I/R SKF-E-19 5 mg, or DextroStat, brand (pure dextroamphetamine) either mfg by Richwood Pharma, (1994 to 2001) or ShireUS, 2001 to 2009. "Outstanding Quality) no longer manufactured. In 2009 until 2014, I switched to Teva division of Barr Labs, of Dextroamphetamine ER 15 mg, Barr 956, brown and white capsules, + a booster pill of Barr blue 10 mg, (division of Teva, generic Adderall, and, I was "satisfied", for the next 5 years on the Teva -Barr Generic versions of GSK/SKB/SKF original Dexedrine and Dexedrine Spansules. The generic Teva/Barr oval blue tabs embossed b-972. IMHO
just as good as Brand Adderall I/R round light blue embossed AD 10. (made by Richwood, ShireUS, and Duramed (another division of Teva/Barr of Sellersville PA USA).

However, something changed in the USA pharmaceutical industry, multiple factors, price gouging, "backordered problems", substitute new generic versions of more generic "mixed amphetamine salts" from poor quality, to managed care insurance formulary restrictions that even affected the generic versions of Teva, division Barr of their generic DextroStat. All in the same year of 2014, after no tolerance or side effects on dextroamphetamine pure, or, the "mixed amphetamine salts" from 1997 to 2014, "17 yrs in a row".

Now the DEA quotas, that started in the year 2017, and, more pressure this year for maladaptive manufacturing practices !! (tampering with formula, via the bioavailability, "how our bodies metabolize the many fillers and binders" and formula changes, especially ER and XR versions!!

The cash price wholesale of dextroamphetamine sulfate has risen from $39.72 per 100 of Richwood DextroStat (1994/1995) 10 mg per bottle to a range from $275.00 cash to $325.00 cash wholesale price, source, REDBOOK, pharmacy's fundamental reference 122nd year of publication to (2018) to PDR Generics, (1995 Medical Economics) page 821. A 7 fold+ increase in the past, 20 years!! Dexedrine Spansules have risen from 2009 price for 15 mg GSK Brand Dex Spansules from AWP $300.06 x 90 pg 378 REDBOOK to, over $1,000.00+ (US) per 90 count bottle (same mg) by new patent holder Amedra! "I have never seen one Brand Dexedrine Spansule since the end of Glaxo Smith Kline, the maker of the drug, who sold the patent in 2010, and also who had two different manufacturers, who, had a "License" to make the drug from GSK, the last decade Dexedrine Spansules were made years 2000 to 2010.

Generic Dextroamphetamine Sulfate extended release is a different story.

I actually decreased my dose by 50 per cent by year 2009 to 2014, and, was doing fine until year 2014. I tried, "Wilshire" "Core" "Ranbaxy" "Sandoz" when "Teva Barr was not available" then when Teva Barr was not on "back order" for either generic DextroStat, or generic Adderall, the price increased radically, and the bioavailability, "Not regulated by the FDA" was significantly altered, by adding more buffers, and fillers, by pressure from the Seller of the drug, who demanded the "MAKER" of the drug to meet an inflexible very low
price point, the formula was changed, thus, now I experience side effects, and immediately the drug in 2014/2015 does not work like it should!! Not a "brand hangup" at all, but a RADICAL difference in poor quality and side effects and very poor performance!

Example, take one 10 mg at wake up on empty stomach, of either generic, Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) OR, 10 mg of the Teva/Barr generic DextroStat, (dextroamphetamine sulfate 10 mg I/R) and it would take up to 2 hours for me to experience any focus and effects from the "new formulations" from Teva/Barr, or, from Wilshire, Core, Aurobindo, KVK Tech, etc, etc.

Yes the FDA does regulate the "bioequivalence" of the 80% minimum to 120% max rule, but, the pharmaceutical manufacturers have found loopholes in the regulations from the Obama Care Act, and, the pharma mfg's can conduct their own diagnostics, and, obtain some of the precursor chemicals from outside the USA, beyond the lazy eyes of the FDA, and add binders and fillers, which effects how our bodies metabolize the FDA "authorized" bioequilvalence. FDA formerly rated DextoStat from 1994 until 2009 as a AA Orange Book rating (Richwood and ShireUS Pharma) and, Smith Kline French, (GSK) Dexedrine Instant Release brand also as "AA" but no more!

My MD switched me to Mallinckrodt, which, has made a generic version of Dextrostat, (Dextroamphetamine sulfate) white diamond shape pills with a "M" inside a square and a "10" other side of pill, and it worked just as well as Dexedrine Sulfate, SKF E-19, 5 mg, or, DextroStat, by ShireUS, (round pill embossed RP one side and 52 other side, for 10 mg. light yellow NDC # 54092-452-01, just like former Richwood DextroStat, NDC 58521-0451-01, and Dexedrine SKBeecham, NDC 00007-3519-20 five mg orange hearts!

I know this because I saved 1 bottle each of above from the years 2000 to the year 2008 so I COULD COMPARE the strength of the "new age" stimulants, released especially since 2014!!! One bottle each, of the above described BRAND stimulants. Only "Mallinckrodt would match the quality control bioavailability and the bioequivalence of the former BRAND name stimulants, for Dextroamphetamine Sulfate instant release 10 mg or in 5 mg!

My local Rite Aid has stocked Hard to Find Mallinckrodt just for me the past 4 years, but, my Rite Aid was bought out by national chain Walgreen's and KVR Tech round pink "K 66" ten mg dextroamphetamine sulfate, was given to me, as, Walgreen's told me no special orders no Mallinckrodt, take this generic, we no longer stock Mallinckrodt, (take it of leave it) syndrome...

EXTREMELY WEAK!! I have compared side by side KVR Tech Inc, of 60 x 10 mg of this generic for DextroStat, to, 2008 Shire US brand DextroStat 10 mg, and, to Richwood Pharma, brand DextroStat mfg date 2001, both embossed "RP" light yellow and, there is NO COMPARISON, it is night & day difference between air tight sealed original brand dextroamphetamine and to 2018 K66 10 mg KVK Tech Inc dextroamphetamine sultate! No wonder everyone is complaining of poor generic ADHD stimulants, with
Global, Wilshire, Teva, KVK Tech, Aurobindo, Core, will Actavis be next?

I will see my Psychiatrist next month to get another prescription of C-II Dextroamphetamine Sulfate, but this time I will demand for my MD to write DAW (dispense as written Dextroamphetamine Sulfate MFG Mallinckrodt NDC 0406-8959-01 ten mg)!! I will call the mfg to see if I can get any leads which wholesaler sales this product to any pharmacy in the Carolinas SE USA! How disappointing compared to 10 yrs ago with GSK Dexedrine Spansules NDC 00007-3514-20 15 mg!!! and brand Dexedrine I/R same mfg, and, with former brand DextroStat, (ShireUS, Richwood) 1994 to 2009 and 2010!!!

As a well informed ADDA (Adult with ADHD) member and former member of CHADD national organizations, I will inform my associates to NOT buy any cheap Wilshire, AuroBindo, KVK Tech, generic Dextroamphetamine, plus, to be very cautious of higher demand Teva-Barr Generic DextroStat, or generic Teva Barr Generic Adderall, or, Global, dextroamphetamine sulfate, or Global Generic Adderall, which, the Former firm "Teva" is facing over 100 legal suits, from USA AG's, and, private USA corporations, cities and counties, for price fixing, and quality control, issues, as Teva is falling apart! Source: FiercePharma Bloomberg news. Pharmacy owners of independent pharmacies, now retired from the industry!!

Abuseable.........yes. My max dose of any amphetamine or dextroamphetamine for a 24 hour time frame has never exceeded, 55 mg per day, and that was over 20 years ago! My dose in late middle age is now only tops 20 mg per day of dextroamphetamine. Never have I got on a "speed run of staying up 48 to 72 hrs to 96 hrs in a row" chasing a high is for recreational users and kids!! Tabs. Caps, no other method of ingesting this abusable medication..........DX of ADHD is the real deal, a disability. IMHO.

Re: Ridgerunner007 (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

I know this reply is over a year later, but perhaps it will help. I get my monthly dextroamphetamine 10 mg IR Rx filled at Walgreens and they special order Mallinckrodt for me. They've been doing it for about 3 years now. And yes, KVK Tech dextroamphetamine is Walgreen's standard fill for this med (which made me so I'll I filed an FDA complaint). This is in Northern Virginia. Walgreens uses AmerisourceBergen as their pharmaceutical distributor AND AmerisourceBergen is a reseller of Mallinckrodt pharmaceuticals, so your Walgreens is giving you a line of BS.

Re: Nate (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

I took 20mg.TID back in the good old days. Now I get 15mg over the course of the whole day. I never particularly noticed tolerance. We started me at 10mg, TID but after about a month, doubled that. Never changed my dose again for 15 years. It did the job, no fuss, no muss, no bother. Try getting sympathy in your search for dex. Theyre so offended that you get a medication that WORKS, and makes you feel and perform better. Thats what they hate the most...that you might feel good.

I've been on Dextroamphetamine Sulphate by Barr 10 mg tabs over 20 years. Suddenly was changed to Aurobindo. Got violently
ill. New Pharmacy giving me Generic Zenzedi. ITS MAKING ME CATATONIC DEPRESSED. K 66 (KVK)
I haven't been able to function or focus on so much work. It's become a serious problem. I can't get the leaflet, because this Pharmacist says it's not allowed, we know is crap. I need help. I must get back to thinking normally without getting drowsy after 40 mg.
My life is unmanageable.
please advise.

What is the pharmacist issue? I have expertise in all of this, having gone through a similar issue with Aurobindo doing nothing.

Seriously? This is the more OCD over the top post I've ever seen. Less meds perhaps because clearly there's no focus issue

FYI: Just received KVK Dextroamphetamine from CVS, for the first time in two years, after having Teva that entire time time in-between. To me it's still way off and and something isn't right with it. Seems worse than two years ago.

This seriously has to be the worst dextroamphetamine made. Teva just does it's thing in the background and you don't really notice it.

KVK Tech so far has made me jittery, increased my blood pressure, makes me annoyed at little things, irritable and angry, reduced any motivation I had to nothing, given me headaches, increased my anxiety, given me feeling of having to "rush" when at a store or running errands, and has just not been working anywhere near as well as Teva or any other brand I've had to be honest. I've never had an issue switching from Teva to another brand like mallinckrodt, wilshire, arbor etc. Just this KVK.

These are very similar symptoms to my experience with Adderall which makes me wonder if they're adulterated with Levoamp. I've had to cut my prescribed amount in half and it's still not working right.

So just a heads up it's out there again. I received from CVS. I also filed a Medwatch report with the FDA as the medication is nearly innefective and given this companies history with FDA non-compliance.

If anyone else should receive KVK Dextroamphetamine and is finding it's not working, or causing new or worsening symptoms, I highly suggest you file a Medwatch report so the FDA will hopefully take action as they did with another ADHD medcation KVK made or makes. It only takes a few minutes and the link is below:

https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/index.cfm

Good luck everyone. And to those observing Easter or Passover have a good holiday or I hope you are having a good Passover. Cheers!

I agree. I just picked up my script Thursday. I usually have the dextroamphetamine mfg by Aurorabindo. This one is kvk-tech.
I feel lethargic, upset stomach, irritable, and tired. Wondering if I can take it back or talk to the pharmacist about my symptoms to switch it back to aurorabindo? I cannot take these for 30 days. Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: Ridgerunner007 (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

So MALLINKRODT Dextroamphetamine Sulfate 10mg IR is back on the market. Have you recently used it? If so is the quality /bioequivalence on par with what you experienced from the manufacturer a few years ago when you had a daw Rx?
