Is It Ok To Take

Hi, I have ex-stream pain under my rib cage, just did cat scan and won't be able to see dr. till monday, I can't sleep and in constant pain day and night, can I take together gabapentin (I take for my neuropathy daily) and Naproxen for shoulder inflammation and hydrocodon-acedaminophen 5-325 or even Tramadol 50 mg tablets and be safe for the pain? Thank you

Sorry to hear about your level of pain. From what I could gather, the Naproxen should be fine. However, according to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are drug interactions listed between the combination of Gabapentin and Hydrocodone, stating that taking the two together may decrease Hydrocodone's effectiveness. They don't go into any specific details determining why this is the case, but you should probably talk with your doctor about it first in case he/she needs to adjust the dosage(s) and/or time frames in which you take them, in order to lessen any chance of this happening.

The other interaction that's listed is between Hydrocodone and Tramadol, stating that taking the two together may cause side effects such as shallow/slow breathing, dizziness, slurred speech, confusion, and cognitive impairment. However, like the first interaction, they go on to note that your doctor may adjust the dosage and/or frequency of use in order to prevent this from happening.

I have severe RLS and i was just given Gabapentin 300mg. To take before bed time. I also take Lortab 10mg. For hip and back pain that if i dont take then i have trouble walking because of the pain. Is it safe to take these two meds if they are 6 to 8 hours apart? I am very careful about what i take because i had watched my mother go to the ER several times due to her doctor giving her a bad mix of meds. I won't take anything without researching it because i don't trust what the doctors say. By the way i also lost my mother-in-law due to a bad mix. She died in her sleep.
