Does anyone know a doctor that is good about prescribing pain killers like hydrocodens 10/325 in fort worth Texas? I am a diabetic type 1 that has a lot of pain and really in need of a good doctor that can help me out and not think i am faking pain.

I have had my Pain Dr for 10 yrs and he can't write pain meds anymore. My father and I have both been to this Dr we don't know where to turn. If you know a good pain Dr in Fort Worth or within 30 miles please let me know. I appreciate any help you can give me. My dad is on Oxycodone and I'm on Methadone and Hyrocodone. I have RA and Fibromyalgia and thoracic disc disease.

Argh! Horrid spelling while typing on the phone in the passenger seat driving down the road :-). Litigation. My point being that at some point the dam has to break with this crazy foolishness and...

all the patients with legitimately documented needs for pain management will/should be organizing with doctors across the country with the assistance of Pharma companies world wide to file class action suit (and pass laws) to Protect the rights of doctors, patients, pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies to serve the legitimate needs of patients without fear or harassment. (And maybe HELP states and the DEA to do their job constructively).

There has to be more going on that i dont understand. I AM seeing a pain management clinic and have been for over two years. They finally have me mostly functional after a stimulator implant and oxycontin/soma and occasional hydrocodone on a weekend if i am pushng m activity. Now they are transitioning me down monthly lower and lower (started a mnth ago) and dr says that they are telling him he basically cant treat chronic pain, and until things change i will be screwed and unable to get around and function. What the heck is going on and who can we get together and sue in class action at civil and criminal levels. This is nothing short of inhumane abuse and torture.

P.s. my frustration isnt aimed at my doctors (with comment refering to suits) but towards the states and dea that are scaring the docs so bad they fear for litigayion or license issues. Ugh

I'm in the same situation as a lot of you. I've had severe chronic back for over 10 years and now my doctor of 15 years can't prescribe the meds I need to have a half-way normal life! I've been through 4-5 pain management doctors that did nothing but increase my pain to a point of thoughts of suicide started creeping in. I've been through different "pain management" doctors, therapy, etc...etc...many times and finally my pcp got my pain to a 0-4 & started to enjoy life again. NOW, I'm being cut back on all my meds and the severe pain is back! What the hell is going on? I don't want to government controlling my health care but it seems they are and we're suffering! who can help us? We need to pull together and fight thru this BS!

I see a pain doctor in Fort Worth. Dr.Thomas Ratino, Dr. Timothy Ratino, and Dr Grant share a clinic on 8th Ave. They are legit. Do UA's every week to make sure you are only taking what they prescribe. I was referred there 4 years ago. Not sure if you need a referral or not. I've had 2 back surgeries in 4 years.

I need to find a doctor not afraid to prescribe Tussionex. I have chronic bronchitis and cough due to asthma and this is the only medication that alleviates all my symptoms as well as helps me to sleep. My doctor keeps denying my refills and I'm afraid of being blacklisted. I believe he thinks I'm an addict.

I have 2 verifiable and potentially 3 neuromuscular diseases. I have been on & off Hydrocodone for years. My overall condition has greatly worsened over the past 2 years, and until 6 months ago, I had no problems getting refills from my doctor. Then, 2 months ago, she agreed to prescribe so long as I would agree to drug screening every 6 mos and would agree not to obtain the drugs from any other doctor. I had no problem agreeing. Then, when I called for my first 2 month refill, she freaked and said I'm on too much and she can't prescribe anymore. For the record, I'm on less than 1/2 the allowable daily dose. She's referred me to a pain management doctor, but the doctor is EXTREMELY religious, which is a complete turn off for me. But I digress-- Doctors everywhere are simply running scared. The problem is that unless there is some combination of something better out there (that I've not discovered over the past 20+ years of dealing with these diseases), I'm going to lose the small amount of functionality I get to have per day. I'm not sure any of us will find a doctor who will still prescribe, but if anyone does, please provide the name of the doctor. Likewise, if anyone finds any alternatives that work, I'm all ears!

So it looks like we are all in the same boat! We should organize a public protest! I won't be able to attend though, debilitating spinal pain without quality treatment has me immobilized currently. To our elected officials- thanks for the new restrictions you have put in place. I'm sure crime has been drastically reduced! Thanks for protecting me from my doctor, the decade he spent in school surely isn't as good as your foresight and appropriate action. But don't worry, we are all just disabled Americans and some of us our combat veterans, what can we do now that our bodies are used up! Lucky you!

There is a lot of misinformation and propaganda on opiates and the rate of overdose, etc. For example, if you take the FDA's and CDC's statistics, they lie by putting at least 10 years of deaths together to justify their actions.

cdc.gov/drugoverdose/data/overdose.html

While 183,000 seems like a lot of deaths, the figure is for 10 or 11 years, depending if they include all the years. This 183,000 comes from the FDA website. So, the death rate is actually 15,000 per year if you read down on the page.

Compare that to the following:
Drunk Driving: 16,000 per year
Alcohol Overdose/Live Failure: 88,000 per year
Tobacco related deaths: 480,000 last year. Over 400,000 per year.

So, what this proves is the FDA, CDC, and even the DEA cannot count. The campaign against legal use of opiates, is pretentious and even unethical.

Those of us with real pain know those facts.

Taking high dose NSAIDs is actually more risky. They will stop your kidneys. Most elderly renal failures are from excessive use of Advil. If you doctor is honest, he will tell you these facts.

TexasMD, I have said for a while that those that the vast majority of chronic pain patients that are having problems receiving pain management are the ones that don't want to do what they need to do to be prescribed the pain meds. For some reason people seem to think that there is a law that entitles them to pain medication when they have pain. Some patients don't want to do what is needed to manage their pain by using non medication forms of pain management in addition to pain medication. They just want to take a pill and do what they want to do. They don't want to adjust their life style. They want to keep on doing things like nothing has happened. They blame their drs when they get dismissed for not obeying the rules and end up in withdrawals. They blame their drs for not continuing to increase their pain meds when the previous doses not longer are as effective as they use to be. They blame the pharmacist when the pharmacy doesn't have the quantity of pain meds their prescriptions are written for.

All patients need to be responsible patients, especially chronic pain patients. We have to do our part to stay as healthy as possible and to require as little medications as possible, especially long term. We also have to do the things our drs ask us to do so they can provide us with the right care. Chronic pain patients need to keep up with federal and state laws that govern their pain management and the medications they take for it. They need to do all they can to keep their pain level as low as possible so they require the least amount of pain medications.

The Pharmacists Responsibility that you're referring to is called Corresponding Responsibility. If I remember correctly, there is a formula for figuring out DEA numbers, or their use to be.

Mandy Shea, I think that things like drs writing prescriptions on computers and printing them out is a step towards reducing forged prescriptions. But you still have a lot of drs that still write out prescriptions on their pads. Most drs that still write their prescriptions out by hand don't carry their prescription pads with them from one exam room to another like they use to and are careful about where they pads are left. That does help reduce the opportunity for prescription pads to be stolen. But, if someone wants drugs bad enough to forge a prescription, they will find a way.

YES!!! Arlington Tx though... Dr. Mark Rodgers at Arlington Health Provillian. The first visit with him was 1 hour and 45 minutes. Very caring and the first doctor to believe me and my pain. Very very hard to get into see him. I had to wait 3 months for my first visit with him but so so worth it. Only see Dr Rodgers not any of the other doctors. He takes patients with or without insurance... I don't have insurance and it's only $75 unless they do blood work than it's about $145 to $175. You only have to go back to see him every 6 months. You will still get your prescription every month though. You pay $5 for each prescription you are prescribed. I get Hydrocodone 10/325 for example that's the only one I have to pay for monthly ($5) but just the triplicate pad. Of course you still have to pay for your prescription to be filled. All other meds I'm prescribed he gives 3 to 5 month refills. Number for Dr Rodgers is 817-277-2671. Good luck and I hope you get your pain relief. But, just a reminder it takes months to get in to see him because he is just that awesome!!! At least 3 to 4 months even after you become a patient.

I totally agree in a legal suit! I've been in pain mgmt 10 years now and due to the opioid crisis, I can't get Xanax, Valium, Dilaudid, Soma, or anything that I used to work that worked on my spinal cord injury and 3 back fusions. I also cannot get Ambien CR that kept me in a small respite from pain. I'm a 49 year old and have never been treated like an addict. BUT now I cannot even be treated like a patient who is in excruciating pain! I'm so angry.

Can get better care from a vet now days. What you need is an old school doctor who don't give a s*** about either FDA or DEA. They all snowflakes now. Partly because they're scared and people suck.

Pompous little tin god. Let me come rip your left shoulder out of socket 20X, pull a rotator cuff tear in your left one, hit your knees until 4 surgerys later including acl transplants and massive bone grinding, you can't sleep at night and everytype of exercise causes enough pain, until your weight blows up to give you type 2 diabetes.
