I Need To Find A Doctor In Fort Worth Texas That Prescribes Pain Killers (Page 2)

Updated

Does anyone know a doctor that is good about prescribing pain killers like hydrocodens 10/325 in fort worth Texas? I am a diabetic type 1 that has a lot of pain and really in need of a good doctor that can help me out and not think i am faking pain.

Does anybody know of a good pain management Dr, "hopefully in tarrant county, but surrounding area will work" that I can go to, I have had a torn rotator cuff now for about 14 years now that is really starting to give me problems. i have taken perc 10's and norco 10's before that has helped a lot that I got from a family member. I would like to just get started on some type of pain management. preferably a doc that requires mri, so they actually know about my injury. not wanting a quack that just prescribes with out knowing.thanks for the help.

Let me know if you find one because I have the same problem. I have an uncontrollable dry cough and that is the ONLY thing that will stop it. My doctor keeps trying me on new cough meds and it is a waste of my money because they do NOTHING.

There are no new laws stating that a Pain Management dr must treat chronic pain. Many pcp's are deciding not to treat chronic pain to different reasons. But, there are no new State or Federal Laws that state a licensed physician, who has a DEA number and is in good standing cannot prescribe pain meds to chronic pain patients long term. Read your state laws and also read the federal laws, these laws do not exist.

Cough meds containing Hydrocodone will be moved from a Schedule III to a Schedule II later on this year. That means it can't be called in, no refills, you must see you dr every 90 days if you take it.

Hi Ms Ortiz....I would love to find out what your info is with regards to fighting back against all the BS surrounding the new "guidelines" and rules for docs prescribing pain killers. How can I contact you privately? If I put my email address on here it will censor it. Thanks.

The laws changing hydrocodone containing products from a Schedule III to a Schedule II are about to be changed. The comment period is open until April 28, 2014. Put Dea AND rescheduling hydrocodone in your search bar. You can have your voice heard at regulations.gov.

Wake up people..our government is turning us into a communist country, we truely need a voice. My belief is our government can control the pharmacuticles and lost the fight on street drugs...so who suffers.. us chronic pain patients..they treat every patient the same no matter what the problem, as if we just came off the street corner sporting a crack pipe, good grief! Why cant our dr. Fight for us, they getting kick backs? I realize its not easy on the drs, but what the f...the governments getting fat pockets..why not you too :-) soooo tired of being treated as a minority..you drs put us on this stuff now just kick us to the curve, how American!!! God help us all that we cant suffer in dignity, feel some relief from all the hard work we done to make this a great country by taking a pill for some comfort.....so go get drunk, try some H, go to the local cig shop and grab a crack pipe, its becoming the American cure all. Thanks for listening, Tami

I see a pain doctor in Fort Worth. Dr.Thomas Ratino, Dr. Timothy Ratino, and Dr Grant share a clinic on 8th Ave. They are legit. Do UA's every week to make sure you are only taking what they prescribe. I was referred there 4 years ago. Not sure if you need a referral or not. I've had 2 back surgeries in 4 years.

Thanks, Lyn! I will call them tomorrow to find out about a referral and how much an office visit is. I don't currently have insurance so I need to find out if they even take cash pay patients because a lot of doctors don't. Can I ask what kind of meds/therapy they have you on? Thanks for the info!

Myth #1: DEA and DPS do not send out letters about physician prescribing habits
Myth #2: there is no medical evidence to support the long term use of hydrocodone. Cancer pain is another issue and is usually classified seperately when responsible physicians consider the benefits vs risk of prescribing a medication.
Myth #3: ANY Texas physician who has applied to the Texas DPS for authorization to prescribe scheduled meds (listed as schedule 3,4,5 and 2 or 2n) and who have requested and paid for the special prescription pad for schedule 2 and 2n meds, CAN prescribe these meds. Does not mean they will if THEY, not the patient, believe the tusks outweigh the potential benefits. Also remember that increased function not simply pain control, is the ultimate goal.

And now the news that Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen is becoming a Schedule 2 in October. This will send this list into a freny when lots of physicians who do not have the special pad and do not want to get one will no longer be able to prescribe.
Dr in Texas.

Im sorry i do not get on here alot, so sorry for the delay responding. Really all im wanting to do is get a petition signed by as many pain sufferers as possible and turn it in to the Texas medical board in Austin, Tx

Ortiz, that is a good statement in that it is the Medical Board that sanctions physicians and physician assistants for practicing bad medicine. Remember though that bad medicine may be prescribing meds for the wrong reasons (look up chapter 170 in the Texas Medical Board Rules - available on line and relatively uncomplicated reading). The Board would never sanction for NOT prescribing meds, so your petition would likely fall on deaf ears.

I'd like to hear more. Please respond.

TexasMD, I wish I knew where patients get the idea that they can make a physician write a certain prescription if the submit petitions. That is not reality.
