Hypothyroidism And Throat/tonsil Pain

I suffer from hypothyroidism and have been on 50 MCG of levothyroxine and vitamin D3 5000 daily and I have had sore and tender throat and uncomfortable to touch. It feels like my throat is closing. I went to the doctor today and she said my tonsils were slightly swollen. I have never had problems with my tonsils. Has anyone had issues with their tonsils or throat while suffering from thyroid issues or on medication? It seems to be a new or different symptom every day!

No, this medication hasn't been known to cause tonsil issues.

Did your doctor prescribe anything to treat it, such as an antibiotic?

It may be beneficial for you to see an ENT.

I have always read that true diagnostics for hypothyroidism, that one has to do four evaluations: T3,T4, tsh, and Tfree; but Dr. or insurance companies do not do all diagnostics together and then by the time they even do one or two and it comes back abn. it is to late. I want to really learn more about this? I have plugged ears, sore throat, constipation and other signs that lead to hypothyroidism. ADD symptoms.

I began experiencing considerable hair loss when going thru menapause and was diagnosed with hypothyroid and am taking 50 mg levothoroxin. hair loss is worse than ever and i want to keep what i have left. there is a sulfer smell when my hair is wet from sweating (i live in the california desert so that is a common state with my long hair). i also have had a lump on my throat for many months now that was dismissed by the young np that attentended to me. my insurance ran out and i have to do this cowgirl style so i need all the help and info i can get. can i do things with suppliments or diet that will improve the hair loss situation and should i worry about the lump on the throat (to my left of my thyroid gland). I am not ready to go bald....doubt i ever will be. the withdraw coming off the meds for this one is tough...did it for about 8 months. i can honestly say the hair loss is worse now than when i went off for those months to see how my body responded. it's definitely gotten worse. i tried upping my dosage but that had no impanct so i am back to the one 50 mg pill a day.
