Hydrocodone 2172

Updated

Hey, i got these pills today from walgreens and i have taken 3 so far and still no affect on my pain. Has anyone else had this same problem because idk of they took most of the hydro out of these new pills but there's definitely something wrong. I will not be getting these from my Dr again.

The 5/325 are worthless, have your doctor prescribe the A333 10/325. I have taken three per day (every 8 hours) for the past twelve years because of a failed Lammy. They at times don't get rid of all the pain but its bearable.

I also just got these today and they are not releiving my pain. I'm calling Walgreens now to speak to a Pharmacist. ACTAVIS is the Mfg. This is what the Local stores are being shipped.

I also just got the 2172 Actavis hydrocodone from Walgreen's just a few days ago instead of the Watson 3202( been on for 2 years) and I am in so much pain. I feel like I am in withdrawal since switching. I called the pharmacy and told them how I'm feeling and she said it is the exact same medicine from the same place and they just took the little orange specks out. Yeah Right! Then why can't I get out of bed today? Sure wasn't a problem with the Watson brand. I am so upset about this.

That's quite a bummer as Actavis products have been under a lot of heat over the past few years... Ever since Watson's name left the picture there have been countless complaints about a lack of quality and no pain relief. Not a coincidence at all in my opinion.

Here is the list of inactive ingredients that are supposed to help make up the composition of these pills:

microcrystalline cellulose + croscarmellose sodium + magnesium stearate. [Meets USP Dissolution Test 1].

With so few inert ingredients compared to other meds, my guess is that because it's a generic version, rumors may be true about them containing less active ingredients as well.

If anyone is able to, maybe a thorough lab analysis would prove such theories...

Awful, completely ineffective for relieving my chronic pain. Has anyone followed up with their pharmacist or Doctor? The Watson 3202's were great, now I doubt these 2172's have ANY effective ingredients. I'm so confused!

I also recently had this change from Walgreens....they are horrible. I have serious back pain which I am scheduled for surgery next week ~ these pills don't even come close to touching my pain. I never had a problem with the Watson with the pink dots. These pills feel like I haven't taken anything. I even doubled up with my doc's permission after I told him that something seemed wrong with these and I still felt like it was only 75% of normal. They also wear out faster. I've been on a 6 hour regimen for years, but these seem to wear off in 3. It's a relief to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. I thought I was going out of my mind ~ or that the pain is just that much worse. Thank you everyone for posting!

I've been taking 5/325 (previously 5/500's) continuously since 2008 and these new 2172's are giving me severe tinnitus. Has anyone else experienced this? I have only experienced tinnitus a few times in my life but now it's almost continuos. Maybe it's meant to be a distraction from the lack of actual pain relief :)

I have just had the same problem with Walgreens over this pill. I questioned them why I was switched from the flecked Hydrocodone. They lied and said its the same pill, that the flecks were removed two weeks ago. I checked this out wih CVS and was told the flecked pills are still made. This substitute for the flecked pill is useless. It's like taking nothing. Walgreens will not get my next refill.

Glad I found this forum!!! These new pills suck! I am taking double and still not nearly as much relief! Going to call my doctor. Is it only Walgreens? Or do other pharmacies carry the polka dotted ones still?

I told my doctor these are not working at all for my chronic pain. I know they are supposed to be the same ingredients but are not. It just does not take the pain away at all. I took my prescription to Walgreens and talked to the pharmacist and he said the same thing, that it is the same pill, they just took out the pink specs and shaped it differently. It is not the same because it does not work. I guess I will just have to check other pharmacies out and leave Walgreens. It's so frustrating.

everyone needs to call walgreens & complain about this crappy pill so they change back, I take a lot of allergic reactions to pills & they changed my med to this junk & I was afraid to take it but they told me they changed tinnitus, I tried 1/2 a pill & had to take Benadryl because it made me itch, never got itchy before they changed it, they won't even return my calls, I stopped getting my meds from them now

Confused and Worried: I've been taking Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 5/325 for 16 years. They do not take away all of the pain, but it helps me have a better quality of life that I wouldn't have with osteoarthritis. I don't like that I've taken these for so long and it's going to be very troublesome when I stop taking them.

I called all the local pharmacies and no one carries the Watson 3202 Vicodin anymore. I don't know why. I told my doctor and he prescribed me Percocet instead. Definitely helps like the old vicodin used to.

I had the same thing happen to me. It's not just you. I called my pharmacist and they said a new company brought the other distributor but kept the name. This medicine is not working but I'm itching like crazy. I usually just take one, this time I took 2. I'm not taking anymore. I don't know the effects it could have.

I too have been on the Watson 5-325 with red speckles for years. But apparently now Actavis merged with Watson or some rubbish like that. All I know is it wasn't effective for me either and caused me to get headaches! My lower back has been feeling more horrible too. >:(
Guess they rather poison their customers and make them more sick so we will have to get on more meds. Seems legit to me! I called my Walgreens and spoke to the very helpful pharmacy manager and she suggested Vicodin Brand name 5-300mg. It is by ABBVIE. My insurance covered it as well. A lot of insurance companies do cover this brand name Vicodin so maybe you all should see if your insurance will. I also submitted a report to MedWatch, the FDA Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program. I would advise everyone to do the same!

Re: Susan (# 90) Expand Referenced Message

Watson is no longer Watson they sold out to Actavis but the pills say Watson on them, yet they are just using the name and the pain pills give no relief. They are like taking nothing, but other pharmacies are also changing to different manufacturers. It's whoever has the lowest bid gets the contract.

These pills are garbage. No pain relief. Just like the generic Valium I take. I'm switching pharmacies. Call pharmacy before you fill scripts. They use crappy cheap ingredients.

Yes I got 2172 from Walgreens and they have no affect what so ever on my back pain. I thought I was immmune from this type of pain killer until I started reading other people’s complaint. This is a rip off.

Re: Shawn (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

All the pharmacies are switching from Watson 5-325 to a weaker Manufacturer. This is a big problem, no one is getting out of pain. It's like taking a heavy dose of aspirin. Pharmacies now have contracts with the new manufacturers. Maybe you can order Watson from these places. I have called 10 pharmacies. Good luck. Let your Doctors know is my advice.

Most people find that Hydrocodone (when you're unaccustomed to taking it) will give you a mild feeling of euphoria. It can also cause you to be "chatty" -- some people prattle on and on about nothing, without even realizing that they're doing it.

Re: MIKE (# 79) Expand Referenced Message

I can 100% understand. You've had a Stroke, I have an inoperable Cerebral Aneurysm. NOW, The pain mgmt is for Neuropathy in my thighs caused by crushed vertebrae. However, pain mgmt is urgent in controlling our blood pressure. An increase in BP could bring on a Rupture for me or Stroke for you. I went from Tylenol Codeine 5/500 8 per day to 5/325 4 per day over 5 years. When Watson was merged into another Corp. the (recipe) changed. It took me showing my Doctor of 20 years this site and everyone's comments. He switched me to Oxycodone/Acetaminophen 5/325 3@day.

He had switched my # from 4 to 3 per day because it's much stronger. Anything would be since Watson sold out. This scared me, I started by halving them. First 1/2 I was loopy. 4,5,6 hrs I'd take the other 1/2. Now I'm @ 2 1/2 .

Mike I've never written anyone here before, your Stroke hit home for me. I'm certain our symptoms are different, however, Pain Management is so technical. I rather think our bodies are like fine tuned race cars, or a watch. Everything has to be in sync and if we're out of balance (Everything Hurts).

I'm Blessed with a doctor whom I have to trust with my life. And he has my obedience card up his sleeve. I'm concerned ur doc just cut your meds in half, I wish you could have a serious talk with your doc. They are so concerned now they have become monitors for the DEA.

This how people become severely addicted , you have little effect so you keep taking more then you run out early and go through some level of withdrawals every month. This is seriously dangerous. If your going to do this you have to have effective pain relief each day for 30 days , I have gone through Percs and hydros from actavis , 2172 ugh Rhodes terrible. The qualitest seem a bit better. I wonder if anyone has been able to compare brand against generic
