I was takeing hydromorph contin 24 mg 6 times a day intravenously, now i'm prescribed methadone pills 25 mg twice a day but i'm not sure how to take them or if its more dangerous than doing the hydromorph contin ones. if someone could tell me how to make the mix. Should i not be doing this type at all?

THERE IS A 25 MG METHADONE PILL. IT IS PROBABLY ONLY AVAILABLE IN CANADA. IT IS CALLED METADOL.
I don't just think or assume this, i KNOW from experience.

dear Kim "a disease is something you get without trying?" So what you are saying is all those people who get lung cancer from smoking don't really have a disease? or all those people who get cancer from living around power lines don't actually have anything wrong with them because they chose to live there... or people with liver failure because of drinking... they are hypochondriacs too right? You have clearly never been addicted to opiates. When you do not have meds you are physically bed ridden... this is not just a mental thing. I was originally prescribed to pills by a doctor for chronic pain but never the less I'm still an addict... just because you are prescribed to pills by a doctor doesn't change the fact that you are addicted to drugs. Your niece probably takes pills for pain just like all these people do. She's probably going to have to take something to get off of those pain pills because after taking pain medicine for 2 weeks it starts changing the chemical balance of your brain... making you addicted to the pill and sick when your opiate receptors are no longer receiving the drug. I thought like you do until I took a break from my pain medicine one day after leaving it at home when i went on a trip and seriously begged my family members to take me to the hospital it was the worst pain I have ever been through every inch of my body hurt and I was physically sick but I guess that doesn't make me an addict because the doctors gave me permission to take it. It seems to me that you have been brain washed by close minded people that you surround yourself with. Addiction can happen to anyone it is not always just kids recreationally using drugs for fun. More often than not it is a secondary condition brought on by a primary illness that requires pain management... Most addicts were prescribed by a doctor to these medicines and have either been cut off for one reason or another without any form of withdrawal prevention (like me when my insurance cut me off and just completely dropped me and could have cared less what happened to me.) or they are people seeking a higher dosage with long term illnesses like your niece who pain increases yet their dosages remain the same that is when people resort to shooting because it by passes the kidneys and goes directly to the blood stream and is more effective because less is lost. So before you get all self righteous on us i think you may need to reevaluate your definition of disease. In my opinion, a disease is an ailment that is debilitating, painful, mind altering, and requires help to overcome it. Addiction is all of those things. When your niece is prescribed to some form of opiate (which she will be) and needs help getting off them. I hope you get a reality check and realize as I said before addiction can take hold of anyone! Also, if addicts never wanted to get help there would not be rehabilitation services. Teenage misfits forced into rehab by their parents are not the only ones that make use of these facilities. Bottom line is no one has the right to preach about addiction unless they have been there because you have absolutely no idea what its like and never will until you are put in that situation. I hope your niece gets better and that she never has to take pain medication because it is a constant battle everyday whether or a with or without piils..i wake up everyday wanting to feel that happy feeling but it gets to the point where you are just doing plls to make you feel normal.

here! here!!! NO, there is no such thing as 25mg tablet . There are 40 mg wafers and 10 mg tabs, but I have not heard of 25 mg tablets. People just talk out of their asses trying sound like they know what they are talking about. Nobody wants to be addicted opiates, but unfortanately s*** happens. If you are taking a adequate dose of methadone, then most people would quit obsessing about getting high. I work at a metha done clinic and have so for the last 6 years and I probably know more than most about methadone, withdrawals, I.V. drug use and the the nasty abscesses from people skin popping or missing. I have seen more people overdose due to using their methadone and thinking that they can use on top of it. Well, a person that is using methadone is not going to feel any opiates put into their body because the recep[tor sites in the brain are filled with fake opiates (methadone) so your serotonin and norepinephrine are high happy just as they would be as if the natural opiates are kicked in. So, people try to do a large amount of whatever drug they are shooting so they can feel high and that is how most people end up overdosing..........trying to feel that high but having to shoot a large amount to break the high threshold of opiates already in that body

Speaking of coming down off a high horse. Fibomyalgia is a recognized legitimate medical condition.

Hipster... Are you a moron or what? Why would you even say something like that to someone. Obviously the person asking is an addict. Addiction is a medical & psychological illness. Instead of passing judgment on him/her, why not try & offer some help? Not to mention the fact that anyone who tells someone else to commit suicide obviously has some problems of their own. So basically you both have an illness. How would you like someone telling you to kill yourself just because you are sick too?

I tried going without my Percocet for 8 hours the other day because my co-pays went from $10 to $197, and the Fentanyl patches up to $500. I can’t afford it! So I thought I’d see what would happen. The pain was excruciating. And, I have a very high pain tolerance.
I am new to this site. I was of the understanding it was supposed to be supportive. Plus I thought I could get some good information, not how to shoot up, but resources on where to find valid prescriptions at a low cost.
The person injecting the drugs is obviously an addict and would benefit from rehab not some asinine comment like how he chooses to inject vs. swallow the medication.
I am a disabled medical professional and have worked with addicts, alcoholics, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, psychiatric disorders of all types. There are so many variables with each person you can’t jam it into one little neat box of cause or cure.

Methadone is a drug that was never intended to inject . There is NO injectable form even the liquid form is not injectable. If you continue to do this you will end up like my best friend who insisted to do this. She died of congestive heart failure. Please try taking it by mouth as it is intended. Its not a drug that will continu to get you "high". It's a maitenance drug to keep you from using. If your goal is to get "high", wrong choice

after 11 year of extreme pain and major surgery was able to walk 5 to 10 feet the most couldn't sit or sleep for more than 2 hour I was ready to end my life. at emergency hospital a dr. sent me at a pain clinic where they try many different pain killer none of them work until metadol I have been on it for 13 year still in pain, sometime a lot but most of the time I can live with it ,I got my life back at least part of it

Gypsy, hon I do hear u! Prob is there are so many different forms of it there is no hard and fast rule. I found that most forms have a gelling agent to keep it from being injected, the other is a filler used only to keep a shape. The filler is not meant to be injected into the blood stream, it is supposed to be melted in stomach acids and the done goes to blood, filler to be excreted. Will it kill you, probably not the first time. However the filler gets absorbed into liver and kidneys and eventually overloads the organs with toxins. Will u get the euphoria, i dont have that answer. But yes you can crush/water/bang! hope it helps your question, i am all for euphoria, join me.

they dont even make 25mg pills, Methadone that is. !0's are the highest you can get, unless you're getting a "wafer" 40 mgs from a mmtc, and you're not gonna walk outta there with any of those in hand, trust me on that!

Good luck with that!! I have been taking Methadone pills given to me for pain for 10 yrs. and it is by far that hardest drug to kick!! I have tried several times and I just can't do it...I'm sure its possible but the sickness you go through is horrible!! My advise for anyone that has never tried Methadone DON'T!!!! Good luck and dont go cold turkey there are alot of risks by doing that,taper down slowly!

I was hoping bypassing stomach acids may help it be more helpful.
I appreciate your help. I guess it is just time to try new dr w/better ideas. Does anyone have any ideas what drug is considered the best for burning nerve pain? I have tried morphine and it was as if I was taking aspirin. I, for some reason, have the tolerance of an elephant but drs never consider that when prescribing to me and I tell them every time, uggg! I am running out of ideas and have not been able to sit for 6 years. I can not get them to destroy my spine from the problem spot down and haven’t figured a way to do it myself. But I would be freer in wheel chair sitting than in bed all the time. Have tried spinal cord stimulation and cortisone in spinal area (that almost killed me). Drs have NO personal experience with drugs or pain, which is why I thought posting here, may get me better info. Who knows better than people who live it every day? I don’t care about the price anymore if the payoff is worth it. Some freedom and quality of life is worth loosing the ability to walk.

Sorry I just re-read your post and realized you are talking about IMing and not IVing. That would be a complete waste, as the bio-availability is higher when taken orally than it is when injected intramuscularly.

Methadone has a very high oral bio-availability, around 80%. You will find very little difference in the amount of pain relief you get out of it from injecting it as opposed to taking it orally. When you hear of people who shoot their methadone, they are doing so to try to get a "rush" from it. Unless you have the injectable ampoules made for IVing, then there is going to be risks involved with injecting it. Given what good oral bio-availability it had, it's totally not worth the risk to inject it, when it will be almost as effective to just take it orally.

Fibromyalgia is a doctor's lazy way of not bothering to diagnose someone. Half of the people DX with it actually have Lyme disease which you catch from a tick. If no doctor ever DXs the Lyme and it turns tertiary (late stage) it causes all the symptoms of Fibro. and other diseases such as MS, Autism type illness, Parkinson’s and more. It is very cruel of you to say it is something that Hypochondriacs’ have, but I understand why you would lash out. That person was a jerk when talking to you about your dealings with drugs. I am actually on this site because doctors are so lazy and stupid and wont help me get well and the government is just as bad. Go to YouTube and put in Lyme and watch some of the problems Lyme can give you. My pain is so bad I am actually considering shooting my medications because I can't get enough help the correct way. I have tried for years and after so much time I am out of ideas. So my question is can you shoot up methadone into muscles and does it last longer that way and does anyone have experience with doing this for pain relief? Also would I use the same amt or less? I am not trying to get high so I guess when I ask about the amount I am asking if the same amount would be more effective if injected?

Every time an obvious addict or the casual user asks a serious question about the use or misuse of a drug no one tells them the truth. Instead a bunch of 12 steppers get on their high horse about the rights and wrongs of their intended attempts. Why don't people just say yes you can do that or no you cant and here is why. You are taking a big risk with somebody elses life. If they had the nerve to post their question what makes you think they are not going to do it anyway after you said there is something mentally wrong with them.
