How Long Does Morphine 30 Mg Last

Updated

I am forced off morphine as drug panels allowed doctors to force legitimate pain patients off meds with no legal protections for patients. The pain associations that promoted drug evaluations, did not advocate that patients be withheld pain meds, unless they had aberrant behavior more than 2 times. Veterans killed themselves because of a intolerant policy that forced them into withdrawal. Many were forced into withdrawal then given drug panels, and many could not receive treatment for their disabling pain. The DEA called the VA the candyland drug dealers for veterans, said there is no legitimate use for pain, that patients just want to feel high. They have gotten away with it so far. The Federal gov. participated in this cover up as 50,000 people committing suicide a yr. is not a public scandal?? Forcing patients into withdrawal is life threatening as witnessed by mass suicide by our veterans. A doctor not able to prescribe 30 mg morphine 3 times a day, because 2 causes withdrawal, lasting only 8 hrs. No guideline to manage withdrawals in a humane and safe manner. they are forcing senior citizens very sick disabled to take expensive drug panels and forcing them into withdrawal, it is so serious as the general attorneys need to stop these assaults on the public. Insurance pays for drug panels that have no legal protection requirement, they pay for pain clinic that advocate against the use of opiates, Where are these policies legally challenged as people and doctors are called dealers and addicts? 30 mg 2 x a day forced lose of health with no supervision. Pain medicine is expensive and this is problem that needs oversight, pharmacies that charge 500% markup to act as unpaid agents for the DEA is corrupt. Where is the protection for pain patients that depend on these medications as any other disability is protected? Thank you, Jamie

I am afraid to tell my pain management doctor that my morphine doesn't work for 12 hours. I'm worried that she will consider me a problem patient and fire me. How do I handle this?

Thank you Jamie for voicing what needs to be said about our medical system. Maybe as the conservative generations pass on, new mindsets will begin to enter the health sector who truly value compassion and doctor/patient relations. In the meantime all we can do is educate and advocate on behalf of ourselves & others for the good of humanity. Together our collective consciousness may catalyze change within our day to day actions and behaviors.

CJ - I can certainly understand your dilemma, especially given the climate of today's prescribing practices... but unless your doctor has given you reason to believe they aren't compassionate or caring, I would just be open and honest about your situation. Perhaps just seeing if she would be willing to recommend any other options for you to try instead of you asking her for something specific is probably the best type of approach to take; at least from my outside perspective...

Best wishes to you both!

Hi CJ. How long have you been taking your current dosage that is supposed to be good for "12 hours"? Also, have you had your current Pain Management physician for a while & have a good relationship with him or her? David's advice is excellent. I would approach the subject in a way that leaves your doctor in a position in which he or she will need to provide a solution for you, as to how you may better obtain a full 12 hours with as little pain as possible. Above all else, as I'm sure you know, you don't want to sound like you are flat-out asking for more drugs & sounding the "junkie alarm".

I feel for you. What a sin. To be in a situation in which you are not getting enough relief with your current medication dosage & having to feel intimidated & possibly even, from the sounds of it, terrified, to bring up this subject with your doctor for whom you have as a healthcare provider for just this very reason. That's why I was curious as to your relationship with your doctor, not that it will make it any easier to ask even if you have had a long & positive/open relationship with your doctor. With the whole "epidemic" going on, it has to be a hard conversation to initiate, but honesty is always the best policy, though do it as gingerly as possible & put your doc in a position where he or she needs to provide you with at least a possible solution. Good luck to you & I certainly hope your doctor wouldn't actually "fire" you because you are not getting the relief you need.

Re: David (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I was forced off mine cold turkey because I failed one panel for marijuna only once in 3 years. Other patients at the same doctor's office failed for methamphetamine and coke, and the doc told them they couldn't fail again, but they got a second chance with a much worse illegal drug. I idk where to go now. The withdrawals are awful and I didn't abuse my meds. Basically I feel your pain. So sorry there is no one to advocate for us. Best of luck to you.
