How Long Do It Take Bactrim To Work For Staph Infection

I just had jaw surgery and developed staph infection (red blotchey acne like white heads) on my chin. I've had this before and taken Bactrim for it in the past. However I've been prescribed 1 pill twice a day for a week. I'm half way through my prescription and I don't see any improvement. Any suggestions? Will it work eventually?

Hello, Simone! How are you? Has there been any improvement, yet?

The general rule with antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after being on them for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days. If there is no improvement after that time, then you should consult your doctor.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
