This is a diuretic that is most commonly used to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, edema, and congestive heart failure.

It isn't dangerous, per se, as long as you take it as directed and are careful to not let yourself become dehydrated. It usually starts working within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, but it can take about a month for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body.

However, if you allow yourself to become dehydrated, it may affect your kidney function.

Bodily elimination can take anywhere from 200 to 360 hours.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination.

I was on it once years ago, after I had congestive heart failure and had very few side effects from it.
