I have been suffering from endometrial cancer grade1 stage 1A . After diagnosis my doctor has given me megestrol acetate 160 mg in the morning & 160 mg at night. I started taking it since 1-6-2016. After six months December, 16 another biopsy is done. It shows that the thickness of endometrum has reduced from 25 mm to 4.4 mm but cancer is still there. I am continuing my drug. How long can I continue or what should I do? I am 35 and I have no child. I had two miscarriages in 2014. Make me grateful by answering me please.

Hello,
I also take 320mg per day but take 2 tablets every 6 hours for a steady amount to remain in my system. I also eat a plan based diet - no packaged or junk food - and walk for an hour every day. You can continue the drug for 9 months BEFORE finding out if it is truly working. About 90% of the time it works. So much better than a hysterectomy!!!! Good luck!

Re: srfrgirl (# 1)

I am also taking me gestural (80mg in the a.m. and 80mg in the p.m.) I started in August 2017. Dr says I will have a biopsy in Nov and we can see if it is working. I'm wondering, what happens when the uterus gets thinner but the cancer is still there? And how pregnancy works once the Dr takes you off the med? Would we have to see a fertility specialist? So many questions...

Any updates so far? I began taking 160mg daily in Aug. I had a biopsy a few days ago and cancer is still there. Dr said to continue megace for 3 more months. Very disappointed right now but trusting in God. I'm 36 with no living children.
