It is actually not safe to inject medication that is not intended to be used in that manner, especially time released pills.

Most of them contain fillers, which are not intended to be broken down by the human body, but are normally expelled in your waste.

If you crush or dissolve a tablet to inject it, you are putting these substances directly into your body in a manner, in which, it cannot get rid of them.

This creates the risk of blockages, which could lead to embolisms and strokes.
