Hot Flashes And Plavix Medication

Just got off Plavix (clop.....) after 18 months on after a stent was implanted in my main artery. I am getting hot flashes about 4 a week.... is that a withdrawal symptom? I am 72. Judy

Hello, Judy! How are you?

It could be, several other people have reported experiencing them, as well, once they stopped taking it.

Other withdrawal effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness and diarrhea.

However, it could also be hormonal. Have you consulted your doctor?

Started taking Plavix plus baby aspirin last July after having 2 medicated stents placed. The doctor took me off my replacement hormone therapy related to possible blood clots after stents. Started having hot flashes again, had been on HRT for past 30 years! In the beginning the hot flashes were not so bad, however in the last few months they were horrible! I never knew when I going to be hit with heat so intense that my head felt like it was burning up, with an immediate headache.
I have been off Plavix for about seven days , went off after my year was up. I just realized today that I have not had a hot flash in two days! I was on a trip and had not noticed that I had not had one!
Was Plavix causing my hot flashes or lack of HRT? Was it coincidental that the hot flashes stopped when I went off HRT and perhaps my body got used to the absences of HRT at the same time
