From what I was able to gather, I believe Histatussin is a cough medication. It has been very difficult to retrieve any information about this drug. I believe it is not from the USA.

Do have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do.

Well from what I gathered on my Histatussin box was that the active ingredients include:
Chorphenamine Maleate - good for Allergies,Nasal Congestion, pruritis of the skin and Sneezing.
Ammonium Chloride - used as an expectorant (a drug that promotes the secretion or expulsion of phlegm, mucus, or other matter from the respiratory tract.)
Ephedrine HCl - used for breathing problems, asthma, nasal swelling/congestion caused by a cold or allergies.
Sodium Citrate - I know it's used for stomach and GI conditions but for more info. consult a pharmacist. You're right crystal it's for coughs also.
Histatussin was always given to me when I was younger by my mom and she swears by it...and from learning what the uses of it, I think it's effective once taken correctly. When you are having trouble finding a medicine online try searching for the active ingredients instead. Hope I've been of great help. (^_^)

You won't be able to find it online as one of the ingredients is ephedrine, whose sale is banned in the U.S. . It was used for making recreational narcotics by some people.

I have used histatussin for as long as i can remember. My youngest daughter is a sickler and the doctor had prescribed histatussin for her while i was living in Jamaica. It works. I just want to know how i can get this drug for my kid and will it be possible to get it into the USA without problems......it is messed up that a drug like this that works is banned here. Smh. Why not ban all the pesticides in the food and stuff that is not suppose to be there. This is a medicine. Worst kinds are sold here. This is a shame though. A great country such as the USA so mediocre and bias

I have been using histasussin for about 35yrs. It saves my life and trip from the doctors, when any of my friends are going to Jamaica i always give them money to buy it. I love it, but I cannot get it in America.
